New Forums, New Guidelines

Our site is growing by leaps and bounds! Hahaha, it's like I'm playing Sim City and my town is doing well...

To accomodate the tremendous influx of new users, I have renamed tech support to New Member Orientation. You can still post your technical support questions there, but now this forum is open to new members looking to introduce themselves and seek help.

I also added "The Ladies Room". Heckler though it was a gesture of goodwill toward our growing female memberships and I agree...however...this forum is on a trial basis. If it becomes anythign remotely like the babies forum...ie people hitting on the girls, asking for dates or anything else generally lame, it's out of there.

There are a couple of things I'd like the new users to keep in mind as they post, as well as the "sort of new" users. Please keep your posts substantial. Posts like "is anybody else listening to this right now?" and "ha ha this is great" leaves nothing for conversation, and the thread is just filled with superfluous nonsense. Mods, please delete these posts immediately. Don't even lock them.

I'm also putting into effect the 3 Strikes and you're out rule. As the site becomes more popular, we're going to see a lot of shmucks. Threads like "Pantera sucks" or "Fez is a faggot" that are clearly malicious will result in a strike, as will spamming of the message board.

SPAMMING INCLUDES:

1) Posting any personal event that is not related to the Ron & Fez Show. These include school plays, birthday parties, band gigs, comedy appearances, etc. If I let one person do it, I have to allow everyone to do it.

2) Posting your personal website, or any website that is not related to the Ron & Fez Show.

3) Multiple threads in multiple forums of the same topic.

4) Signing up under multiple screen names after being banned.

I think these are pretty fair and easy to abide by. If you have any questions, email me at Jeff@foundrymusic.com.

Mods, please enforce these guidelines to the best of your ability. We need to keep the board streamlined and organized, unlike an Al Dukes bar crawl.

My own Villanova college radio show, a toned down version of Ron and Fez, will be starting in a few weeks, can I plug the online address so people can listen live once I find it out? I will be needing listeners desparately, since me and my buddy's time slot is tuesday nites from 1-3 am. Thanks, you can email me back with answer.

See, I thought I made myself clear on this matter. I just can't do it, I'm sorry. If its somehow involved in a bit on the Ron & Fez Show, yes...then it would be somewhat relevant.

There's a number of college radio station message boards out there. I know from my own experience as a college radio DJ that the best way to advertise is word of mouth and bulletin pin ups around campus. This board, however, is not the place to do it.

I've been going through some old posts...wow some of you guys have really been taking advantage with the spamming...I won't mention names but this has to stop.

Also, please keep the person to person correspondence on the board to a minimum. Threads like "Hey <insert name here> wanna get some ice cream after school?" are just going to be deleted.

Some variations on that theme I've seen:

1) Hey <insert name here>, where you been, I miss you.
2) Hey <insert name here>, where you at the mall yesterday? I think I saw you.
3) Hey <insert name here>, do you like candy and U2?

Think to yourself....would this best be served in a simple email? Is your question relevant enough to the entire board so they can respond with something of substance? I think you can use your best judgement here.

The whole idea is to keep the uunnecessary posts off the board...it's a lot easier to manage and search through that way.

MODS, please enforce this.

I would just worry about this one a little bit. It'd be very easy for someone to innocuously post a thread in OT that had already made an appearance in GD. Maybe he/she didn't check the other forum, or the thread title was vague or ambiguous. Ya know what I mean?
Unless of course you mean the same person posting the same thing in multiple threads. That makes sense then.

Use your best judgement. We don't mind if you link to other website for information...clearly this is intended for people who want to use our board to promote thier personal or business websites. If its relevant and its posting is without any personal motivation, then I don't see a problem with it.
