View Full Version : What Are Your Favorite XM Channels?

I don't think this thread has been done. What XM channels do you like the most (besides 202, of course).

When
it comes to music, I usualy listen to the alternative or punk channels,
but I found one tonight, that blew me away. It's Soul Street channel
60. This channel ROCKS!!! I kept expecting the songs to fade out after
15 seconds and hear Ron & Fez chime in.

So what are your favorites?

I just got my Roady2 tonight, so I can't really comment too much. Other than 202, I guess with my online subscription, Liquid Metal is my favorite. I am still up in the air about my opinion on the music on XM. I am still happy to plug my iPod in instead of waiting for XM to play shit for me.

FYI to all you new people

XM411.com's Bootcamp starts tomorrow 9/5/05

Each
week you are to tryout a new station that is pre-picked. 10 minutes, a
half hour, all day if you want. And share you opinions with others, or
not. Its perfect for new subscribers and even old.

This will be my
first experience and cant wait for it. I got XM just for O&A and
only recently started traveling around the dial. Now im a fan of so
many more genres. Its crazy!

It covers just about every station XM offers. In fact, next weeks Highlight will be Ron and Fez.

Take a looksy

http://www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=17777&start=0

202, the sporting events, and stations 40-54 are the best

edit: to elaborate a little

ive
had this a short time, and spend most time on 202. Otherwise, so far
I've found Lucy (54) to be the best. Boneyard is good, I also am really
likin 53, Fungus. And when I'm in a mellow mood I flip on 45 and 50,
though I havent heard any Jack yet
I've only been a subscriber for 5 days now, and I have no presets. With radio (as with TV) I'm a notorious flicker.

So far the following are the ones I stay tuned to the longest:

5 - The 50's
6 - The 60's
7 - The 70's
10 - America (country)
12 - X Country
13 - Hank's Place (classic country)
40 - Deep Tracks
41 - Bone Yard
44 - Fred
45 - XM Cafe
47 - Ethel
48 - Squizz
53 - Fungus
54 - Lucy
60 - Soul Street
64 - The Groove
74 - Bluesville
75 - Hear Music
76 - Fine Tuning
83 - Chrome (classic disco)
and whatever channel my beloved Cincinnati Reds are on.

It's obvious I've got some pretty diverse musical tastes, and I'm thrilled that XM seems to cover all bases.

I've had my Roady2 turned on for a day now, and I think the only other thing I listened to for longer than 2 minutes is some of the Dance/House music stations. It sounds like video game music and I can dig that rhythm.

I turned it on with my band for about 5 minutes today. When they found out XM could have dozens of shit channels dedicated to EVERY small genre of music but decided to take Liquid Metal off, I had all I could do to keep them from throwing it out the fucking window. YOU SUCK XM. You have multiple Country, Hip Hop and Christian(gag) stations but you can't have ONE heavy station? The Bone Yard is GAY AS HELL. I saw an AC/DC song on there, but even that couldn't take the gay out of that staion.

I listen to a lot of pop music, so I listen 20 on 20, Mix, and Kiss a lot.

I also listen to 80's, 90's, 202, Top Tracks, Deep Tracks, Ethel, Lucy, Nashville!, Highway 16, and a few others.

What really annoys me about XM is how the hard rock is fragmented. There doesn't seem to be a station that's remiscent of WYSP or WMMR, which is pretty much K-Rock with a deeper and more diverse playlist. In other words, album and alternative rock. (And moe, yes, I know K-Rock sucks. WYSP and WMMR's playlists are a lot superior.)

The Boneyard doesn't seem to have recent stuff, and a lot of the artists are ones I never heard of.

Is there a happy medium somewhere?

quote: I'm still doing the online listening thing, and just flipped around and landed on "Lucy" because I saw they were playing Rob Zombie, only it's the CLEAN version of the song, edited for terestrial radio. WTF? Is this common with some stations, etc? Lucy isn't an "XL" channel, but if they played that song on Squizz they wouldn't need a clean version. They want to keep some stuff safe for familys
I'm really diggin' the Fungus channel. Great old punk rock and ska. Heard the meatmen and the dickies in the same hour! And the hockey channel is OK but they don't have every game on which kinda sucks.

Funny you should mention Fungus (53) cause I've been listening to them a ton recently. That and the Jazz channel (70), as well as Big Ass 202...

If I got a biscuit, you get half !
