This is probably of little interest except to those of us who have been following the machinations of Infinity and WJFK -- from <a href="http://www.dcrtv.com/" target="_self">dcrtv.com</a>:Big O & Dukes Fired - 9/6 - DCRTV hears that Big O and Dukes have been given their walking papers at Infinity's WHFS (105.7 FM) in Baltimore. Many have been predicting the demise of the midday duo when former Charm City police honcho and ex-con Ed Norris was given top billing a few weeks back. According to <a href="http://www.whfs.com/outtolunch.shtml" target="_new">whfs.com</a>, the former "Out To Lunch" show is now "The Ed Norris Show." More soon..... Some of you may recall that Big O and Dukes were favored by Infinity management over the Hideout with El Jefe and J Dubs.  As a result, the Hideout headed to greener pastures on Real Radio in Orlando.  (Of course, WJFK would be in much better shape if they still had the Hideout under contract, because they would be the perfect show to slid into R&F's old slot after they departed for XM.)  Big O and Dukes were given a weekend night show on WJFK after their former station, WHFS (not to be confused with WHFS in Baltimore -- they took over the call letters), went Spanish, and they were given a shot to replace the "Out to Lunch" show in Baltimore after that show headed to Seattle.  Now, however, they have been given the boot.WJFK is absolutely screwed.  R&F are gone.  The Junkies may be gone within the next month or two.  Stern will be gone by January.  Their 2 minor league prospect shows, the Hideout and Big O & Dukes, are gone.  The Peter Rosenberg Show may eventually pan out, but judging from their first week of shows, they probably could have benefit from more time developing the show on the weekends like the Hideout did.  I speculate that once Stern is off the air, WJFK will flip to a music format and run Don & Mike as their morning show and no other talk programming.Incidentally, Big O and Dukes may sound familiar to O&A fans -- one half of the duo, Chad Dukes, is apparently very into O&A and has called the show and posted on wackbag.  Their show also made it past the first cut to get a "golden ticket".  I'm no authority on the show.  I heard it a couple of times when they were doing weekends on WJFK, and a handful of times when traveling through Baltimore.  I didn't care for the show very much, and the "Junkies Lite" criticism lobbed at theme so often seemed appropriate.  However, I'm not going to condemn the show, because I'm of the opinion that you need to listen to a show of that ilk for a few weeks before really being able to decide if it's good or not.

Wait, I don't get it - how is WJFK screwed if HFS-Baltimore fired Big O and Dukes?If anything, HFS's loss might be JFK's gain.  Don't forget... just because a show is fired from the station doesn't mean it's gone from the company.  See: Ron and Fez on WNEW.Couldn't Big O and Dukes come to JFK?

It all depends whether they have been fired by Infinity or just WHFS -- no details on that yet.  My whole thread, was based on the assumption that a firing meant a firing from the company, but that very well might not be the case.There's a major beef between Chad Dukes and Don Geronimo that I forgot to mention that may make a major roadblock for a move to WJFK by O&A Dukes.  Nevertheless, they might put them on a weekday slot on the station out of desparation -- Maybe they'll even take over for Peter Rosenberg from 7-11.My point was really that Infinity has their heads up their asses when dealing with talent and trying to stock a talk station.  Even given vacancies that they knew had a good shot of happening, they failed to plan accordingly.  <img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=mikeyboy" border="0" /> <a href="http://www.osirusonline.com/ronfez.htm" target="blank">Ron & Fez Show Log</a>; Daily News Scratch N' Match is the Devil <a href="http://www.radiobbq.net/" target="blank">The Music Mikey Likes Show on RadioBBQ, weekdays 11:00 am - 1:00 pm</a> Now with new <a href="http://www.ronfez.net/mediastorage/mikey/mikeyshowtheme.mp3" target="blank">theme song</a> by BoBoGolem

MB - I really agree with you about the point that these kinds of shows really deserve more than a passing listen to judge. It gets old the "well, I gave them a shot" rap, because the same people get defensive if someone lobs that back at them about their favorite show. HOWEVER, I did listen to them quite a bit, trying to find something to like, and never could. The fact that they sound like the junkies is that they were interns for the Junks when the Junkies were at WJFK. There was nothing original there at all - and nothing funny, imo. I'm sorry for any fans they might have had, because it does suck to lose a radio show you enjoyed, but after what happened with The Hideout & them, I can't say I'm terribly upset. THEY were chosen over Jefe and Dubs because they kissed managment's ass more. THAT said, I also suspect that them being dumped by WHFS in Baltimore is more of opening up space for when Stern leaves & D&M move into mornings there (specualtion on my part) and then they can finally return to all "HFS" music. I don't see WJFK in DC going to a music format, tho - not while they have the Redskins and Bill O'Reilly to contend with.

Big O & Dukes were the suckiest bunch of sucks, that ever sucked!!!  I gave them many many chances, hoping the show would get better. Every time I listened, I hated it more. They are stupid...  just plain stupid, people. They never get any kind of facts (news or history) right. They actually got some good guests on the show, but good guests couldn't carry them. They also would turn on a guest and call him stupid, when they had no idea what the guest was saying. My feelings for their show are on par with Moe's feelings for Don & Mike!

LOL!I would be very surprised if idiot & dickbreath end up on wjfk (radio's titanic) I predicted they would be out of a job back when HFS brought aboard ED "crooked cop" Norris & turned the show from Big O & Dukes to:  ED NORRIS W/ big o & dukes. Even they saw the writing on the wall and THAT is why they went looking for a golden ticket. I'd like to take a little credit for these no talent, sport- junky-wannabeez-  losing their dignity AND job. A few weeks ago, the ex girlfriend of chad dukes was on the cosmic circus and she shed a little light into chad's perverted lifestyle as well as his other demons. I was contacted by their "agent" and told to pull the interview from the website. losing a job is never funny unless it's greaseman or chad dooks. big o & dukes? I have some room on saturday night if you would like to be on UFO Radio.
