I just purchased this best of Bowie DVD that has performances from the 70s and it is fantastic. I have always loved Bowie, but this just reminds me how fucking great he is. Right now my favorite Bowie song is Queen Bitch, but there are so many more. C'mon, people, he deserves your love. What are your Bowie favorites? He fucking rules!

I've always loved Bowie. My favorite Bowie moment, was as an early teen. My friends and I were getting high, and listening to Ashes to Ashes. My friend's (very conservative) mom came in the room. She heard the song and said, "This is a nice sounding song".

He was on some Fashion fundraiser for Katrina last night on Ch 2. Anybody catch it?

I didn't get the song at all, or why it was a good choice for a hurricane relief show.

Plus he was dressed in pants that were too short, had one hand all bandaged up and a black eye.

David Bowie is great, one of the best artists of our time.

Any new musician who doesnt know who he is (ie Avril Lavigne) needs to be beaten.

Very true about people who don't know of Bowie, but of people who know Bowie, who are the two characters here with him here, Berlin 1977, laying down tracks for what would become the song and album 'Heroes'. Two of the most famous musicians and producers no one has ever heard of, but they sure have heard their music...

The hint that the guy in the middle was my guitar teacher from 1986-1995 is no hint at all, just a gloat.

I saw him maybe 3 yrs ago in this gorgeous, tiny, 400 seat Greek Revival music hall on the ghetto ass north shore of staten island. It was literally David Bowie and friends around a campfire....just an astonishingly warm, open, accessible performer. Maybe ten encores before the show was done. I paid a few hundred dollars to be there and said thank you at night's end.

David Bowie is the only man I will admit would look attractive as a woman.

Never got to see the Spiders from Mars but I saw Ian Hunter way back in 1979 and 1980, might be a year off, right after 'You're never alone with a Schizophrenic' album came out [highly recommended, ignore that Drew Carey ruined 'Cleaveland Rocks']. Anyway I didn't know who they were, but every time the blond haired guitarist went to the front of the stage the place went berserk. Hell I wasn't 18 yet what did I know, but that was Mick Ronson, and did the place go apeshit for him. Ian was amazing.

And yep thats Brian Eno up there on the left. he produced so many albums, I mean from Genesis' 'Lamb Lies Down' to Devo's 'Q: Ar We Not Men?' to his work on U2's 'Joshua Tree and about four others for them. The guys been around. He makes great noises too.

i remember first hearing Heroes and i just had to get the album or cassette, maybe 8-trak but i think cassette. the store i went too must not have had the album but they had a movie soundtrack with the song on it. when i listened it turns out half the song was sung in german. it was pretty cool and it grew on me but i always wished i got the all english version

and i really dig the wallflowers version...
