Am I obsessed?

I am very attracted to the actress Katherine Heigl.

I do have a girlfriend, but I still feel something that draws me to her. I think about her non-stop.

Last night I was driving to a hockey game in Bridgeport and I passed by her old high school in New Canaan. I almost felt compelled to walk in and look around.

I try to tell myself this isn't right and I try to convince myself she isn't all she appears to be, but I still feel a strong attraction to her.

Obsessions are defined as persistent ideas, thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced (subjectively) as intrusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress. It must be ego-dystonic, i.e. foreign to you, not matching your self concept.

Sexual imagry is a frequent obsession.

The mere fact that you're attracted to her and that you think about her often, doesn't necessarily mean that you're obsessed with her.

Thanks, HK. I just want to clear the air. I didn't go out of my way to find New Canaan HS. I passed by it and thought about going in, but I didn't act on my impulse.

I have no problem with people having fun at my expense. How many topics have gone from discussing Transformers to making fun of me for being an Arena Football fan? I can handle a little hazing, but I always thought this forum was an inappropriate place for that. Maybe I was wrong.
