Los Angeles Blackout

<p>Breaking news from CNN:</p><p>Major power disruptions throughout the city of Los Angeles.</p><p>The blackout came a day after ABC aired a videotape of a purported al Qaeda member making terrorist threats against Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia, on the fourth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. But the weather in Los Angeles was not unusually hot Monday.</p><p>Which reminded me of a story I saw on Headline News last week.</p><p>In August of 2001, FEMA had a meeting, in NYC, to discuss the three most probable emergencies that it will have to deal with.</p><p>1. A terror attack in NYC </p><p>2. A major hurricane hitting New Orleans</p><p>3. A major earthquake in Los Angeles.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The story continued how Los Angeles is the next potental trouble spot (i.e. upcoming clusterfuck #2) because no one is ready.&nbsp; Now a blackout in LA.</p><img src="http://www.chaoticconcepts.com/randomizer/random.php?uid=7" border="0" />

The Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management said power officials told the agency that the outage was linked to an error at a receiving station near Burbank. Workers connected the wrong wires, causing a surge of power that led to shutdowns at three power generating stations, according to officials. <p>&nbsp;</p>Receiving stations take high-voltage power from generating stations and convert it to lower voltage.
