Question for MyFi and other portable owners.

<p>How do you get the audio files you save on it off?&nbsp; Because if all you can do is tape the show, listen to it and then have to re-record over what you had on there, what's the point?&nbsp; If I miss listening to a taped show one night I'm forced to make the descison to either tape over what could be a great show or miss the next show.</p><p>What good are these things other than portable XM receivers?&nbsp; </p><p>Also, I have lots of trees in my area and get shit reception.&nbsp; Does the thing have a timer to record or something?&nbsp; Because where I am even if I had a window I would get shit reception, and if you need to have it with you to record, what do people with center floor offices do, construction workers who don't want to chance breaking a 200 dollar unit do and others who can't record from 11-1?</p><p>These things seem less and less the 100% definitive answer to the problem of missing the show due to the dogshit timeslot.</p>

<p>Uhh, real time recordings? &nbsp;So you have to let it record for 3 hours then play it for 3 hours.&nbsp; It doesn't have a port on it to hook up a line for transfer of the files?&nbsp; </p><p>Unimpressed.</p>

<p>I use total recorder, but sometimes it doesn't work. I can't seem to
get the files on my IPOD, so I have huge files on my computer. I miss
the old days of getting email files. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I guess the only way I can save the shows now is to put them on discs and listen someday.</p><p>C'mon XM put Ron and Fez replays on a better time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I'm going to utilize your thread here Moe.&nbsp; Which of the MyFi units is better?&nbsp; I've heard the newer Pioneer for the same price has much better reception and recording options.&nbsp; I saw it at C.City the other day.&nbsp; </p><p>Also, taking money out of the equation, what is the best setup for the car, home and portable?&nbsp; Should I just buy one of the MyFi (as I believe this is the best portable unit) and use it everywhere?&nbsp; Or should I buy a full new unit for my car, an XM compatible receiver for my home, and the MyFi for travel and all my other radios?&nbsp; </p><p>And do the MyFis always need a hard line connection to the stereos you want to listen through?&nbsp; Or do they both transmit the signal when close without prior stated connection processes?</p><p>Thanks punks!</p>

It's more reliable and easier than a myfi, you don't have to delete the show every day, not too mention it's a shit load cheaper. I was going to get a myfi but it's too limiting. I have a Pioneer Airware, and if I only want to record Ron and Fez, I
can keep almost 3 1/2 shows on it before it starts deleting the first
recording.&nbsp; The current generation of XM2Go units are far from
perfect, but as a starting place they're not bad.&nbsp; They certainly
aren't the be all end all that people like to make them out to be, but
I'm pretty happy with mine.<br />

I've had a terrible time with my AirWare xm2go getting it to record a show! I follow the directions on scheduling a session but I go back later and find the damn thing didn't record. I look in the "schedule My XM" section and the time is set and "everyday" is set but it still doesn't work! I've also tried to get up by 11 and click on the "2go" button to record right there but then I only get half a show. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The instructions that came with the thing aren't very detailed and it seems like a step is left out or something. Very annoying.
