I'm not sure if this exact thread has ever been discussed although I know we've done version of it ( Movies You Hate But Others Loved , Actresses Others Think Are Hot And You Don't , etc ... ).I'm talking movies that you were really looking forward to seeing and then you were really left flat.The one I can think of is League Of Extraordinary Gentleman.I thought the premise was pretty cool but the movie itself sucked.

The movie by M. Night Shmalamadingdong....The Village ugggggh god awful...and i was really looking forward to seeing it and was so upset by the end of it i couldnt watch anything for the rest of the day i was just so digusted by televised media

Armageddon.I guess just because I'm a big Bruce Willis fan
and I thought it was going to be the movie that would put his name in
with the other big action stars of his time.  Not that he wasn't
big, I just had high hopes for the movie.Then I see it and first
of all I hate Liv Tyler and second of all the whole movie turned out to
be one big Aerosmith video.  Hollywood garbage. 
I was dissapointed.

Todd McFarlane was involved, I stayed away from any spoilers or advanced word about the movie.I figured, what could go wrong?I haven't been that disappointed before or since. Anchor Man -  I heard this was supposed to be so great blah blha blah and it was HORRID. i barely laughed. I even tried to watch it again a week later just to see if I was in a bad mood or something. still sucked

Mystery Men.  Hank Azaria. William H. Macy.  Super Heroes.  It's gotta be great.  Probably not a big maybe.  Might end up a cult classic. Errnnnn! Wrong!  So very, very disappointed.  I suppose I should've known better seeing that overrated, hack Ben Stiller was involved.  Who keeps giving this guy work?

AnchorMan will never be good in my book and neither will..... SCARFACE.  ugh, all i ever heard was people talking about that movie and it was horrendous. They speak about it like is should be the missing god father, but it REALLY fell short in my eyes.

Phone Booth.  That movie sucked and wanted Collin to get shot in the head.  Why should I care about a character who cheats on his girlfriend and then wants sympathy for that.  What kind of protagonist is that?

It was a cool story with great actors and it had so much potential but he somehow managed to fuck it up. Sixth Sense as well.People have told me I probably hated it because I already knew the surprise before I saw it buy I still think it sucked.Also Star Wars Episodes 1 & 2 both ate it hard.Especially #2.

Friday The 13'th Part 8... I hated this movie. <img height="300" src="http://www.d8a.co.uk/vcd/Planet-of-the-apes.jpg" width="192" border="0" />I was so looking forward to this movie because growing up I was such a big fan of the original - even the sequels and the crap-tacular short lived series and cartoons.  I had the action figures and jungle tree house set and everthing.  To me the original was a classic sci-fi film.  The only thing that bothered me was that Chalton Heston was never tipped off that he might actually be on earth considering the fact that the apes were talking to him in fluent English the whole time.I figured that the re-make, with its modern day movie making/storytelling sensibilities would address this one flaw.  No such luck.  Not only did Marky Mark never question the whole English thing but the movie added a bunch of other non-sensical shit.  I understand that the humans were the descendants of the spaceship crew and the apes were the descendants of the lab/pilot chimps that crashed on the planet.  But then where the hell did all the horses come from?  Am I to believe that they just happened to be carrying a herd of horses on an interstellar spaceship on the chance that they might crash on some western desert looking planet?And that whole surprise twist ending was bullshit too.  So in some parrelel timeline the apes rule the earth.  They happened to have built an exact replica of Washington DC right down to a Lincoln Monument with an ape that looks just like Lincoln - beard and all.Fehhh!  I hate Tim Burton and all that he stands for.

Also Saw disappointed me.I was expecting more of a Se7en type of movie and it fell way short.Actually even the scenes in Jason Takes Manhattan that appear to be NY are actually in Canada.Toronto I think.

I forgot about Tim Burton's Planet of The Apes. I honestly believe that might have been ok if Marky Mark were not in it. The Last few of the original Apes films were so ridiculous, I never imagined a remake could be worse.  This was the same dumb movie in The Wild West... It made me sad... I just finished watching Kung Fu Hustle...wow what a lame movie. I was expecting a funny movie, this was just plain cheezy. And Paul-O had such good things to say abut it. He should be making better movies, ya think???

The last two Coen Brothers films: "Intolerable Cruelty" and "The Ladykillers." It was disappointing to see their first stinker after 20 years of great films, but terrifying to see two turds in a row. The world will seem not quite right until the Coens pull out of this slump.Same can be said for "Eyes Wide Shit," but at least Kubrick can say he had one foot in the grave when he made the movie. Or, he could say it if he wasn't dead."Club Dread" was a big disappointment. "Super Troopers" was so beautifully stupid in an 80's comedy sort of way, that I was really hoping that this "Broken Lizard" team would turn out to be a great new source of stupid comedy genius for at least a decade or two. But "Club Dread" was just stupid. Looks like they were a cinematic one-hit-wonder.

Napoleon Dynamite - I don't know if this actually disappointed me because I didn't walk into this movie with great expectations. Though the buzz around this at the time and to this day makes this movie sound like such an amazingly funny and great movie. I don't get it. Sure it has some moments in it, though overall, I was pretty let down considering the way people talked about it.The Manchurian Candidate - w/Denzel Washington FUCKING SUCKED! Plain and simple. I loved the original and was very disappointed with this awful remake.Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy - I never really got into the books (for no particular reason), though from the perspective of someone who didn't know much about the story walking in, I was pretty disappointed.I had reservations about Anchor Man and I didn't see the movie going the way that it did ultimately, though there is a part of me that has a guilty pleasure for it. Perhaps it's barely saved by Steve Carrell and Vince Vaughn.

Hell Boy The movie was progressing well-enough,
and then at the end, with the big climactic battle with that super
demon, or whatever, it just kind of ended.  The fight was like a
minute or two long.  Stupid.  Also, the whole thing with the
dogs, where they come back as two if they are killed, never actually
comes to pass.  I think they get killed somewhere in the movie,
yet they dont come back in multiples.  I don't think they even
come back at all. I can understand that it can be
tough to make a movie out of an established comic because there is so
much story to draw from, and the hardcore fans have the elements that
they want included, and you have to plan to tell the story to a mass of
people who have no prior knowledge of the story.  All this
included, the movie was extremely disapointing--It started off well,
and through most of the movie I was thinking, "hmm, maybe I'll pick
this up on DVD" and I kept that until about 30 minutes before it
ended.  I think thats why it was so disapointing, because it was
so close to being pretty good.

Office Space, Caddy Shack. I hear these movies

I agree with both your points. I was especially disappointed with Eyes Wide Shut. I had to watch a Full Metal Jacket and Clockwork Orange marathon to get that awful film out of my mind and remember how good a director he was.

I kinda liked Hellboy but you're right in the fact that the climax was kinda weak.As you stated it just kind ended.I was also disappointed in Van Helsing.While I didnt expect it to be great I surely didnt anticipate that lame ending.Also I just finished watching the remake of The Longest Yar and it was pretty awfulA few good bits here and there but the only thing that saved it was when Chris Rock got killed.Should've ended it there.

I have to respectfully disagree with "28 Days Later". It might not have been terrifying, but it was pretty cool. Even though they weren't really Zombies, It brought back the genre. I'm not sure that 28 Days brought back the genre but I thought it was a good movie.It was very slow at times but it did have good atmosphere and action at times.I thought the ending, with the soldiers despite being entertaining, was a little bit of a stretch.

It just boosted the popularity a bit. It really kind of made the Zombies serious again, insted of goofy decapitated heads screaming Brains. It did create the Running Zombie, and for some reason British Zombies are scarier to me... I hate mixing these movies up. I will also chime in with support for "Caddyshack". EXCELLENT Movie. Rodney fucking KILLED! As for a dissapointment    "Yu-Gi-Oh - The Movie" I expected high-tech animation, along with some CGI, a new storyline, etc.What I got was a back to back WB saturday morning show, with these bastards just shilling their new Egyptian God Cards! (which I got 2 of with admission)Pretty much Sucked Ass!!
