View Full Version : Musical Sexist

I've been called a 'musical sexist' by a friend of mine. In other words, I don't give female artists a fair shake. This may or may not be true, but I'll be damned if she's right. I was going to make a CD for her featuring songs I enjoy from female artists, but being a musical sexist, I am having a hard time figuring out my songs:

Here is what I have so far:

Anything by the Smashing Pumpkins (the bassist was a woman, it counts)

Joplin

Garbage

Susan Tedeschi (I won't even have to lie about this one- I really do like her)

Ani DiFranco (I like that one song, "Fuck You"- I probably will include it)

There are a few more obvious ones- Cranberries, Hole, etc.. but I want to be fairly original... give a sexist asshole a hand, rf.net!

I'm a complete musical sexist. People have listed a bunch of great acts in here, a lot I have albums by, but even so, my first impression when I see an all girl or mostly female group is, "that's so totally not going to rock at all."

And yet, the band I can't stop listening to right now, Giant Drag, is fronted by a woman and they rock my fucking cock's socks off.

Anyone with a song called "Kevin is Gay" is alright by me.

Uh...then one evening the snake was walking about
in the garden and he was talking to himself and he saw the woman
and they started to talk.
