Link to the story

I read a lot of news stories on the web, but crap like this really bothers me for some reason.

Once some Christian school found out this girl had 2 lesbian parents, they bounced her from the school. I find this to be such a crock of shit it's unbelivable.

Who's place is it for people to judge what's immoral? There are SO MANY children who don't get the love and caring they need in this world. If these kids get it from 2 moms, who's place is it to tell them they can't do that?

And I know what a lot of you will say. "Don't send your kids to a school where they have rules that make your lifestyle a problem. You should have looked into the place before you sent your kid there."

Well a lot of parents send their kids to private school because the local public schools are so fucking terrible they have no choice, if they can afford it. My parents sent me to a Catholic School knowing full well I'd never care about the religious aspect of the place. I was raised Protestant, but my parents knew by high school I didn't give 2 shits about religion. They just wanted the better education and the better school name on a resume or college app.

So in summary, I think it's crap. Religion sucks again, and the couple said they're not going to fight it. I guess the Christians are keeping another immoral monster away from their kids. At least for a few years.....

I was raised Protestant,

same here...

i guess you can't judge all the christian schools by this one, just like with the priests. there are some hardcore believers in that line in the bible that 'no homosexual will make it into the kingdom of heaven' or somesuch so they can't come to grips with being able to seperate morality and sexuality

I don't have any problem with lesbian parents, but why shouldn't the Christian school have the right to create and enforce their own rules? Should the NAACP be forced to have a Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard as a member?

This story sickens and frightens me at the same time. It shows the rising tide of religious zealots that are is beginning to ebb and it has to be checked. It almost makes me want to grab a gun and make their blood run in rivers through the streets with all this medieval fucking talk. These right wing nuts need to be overthrown and destroyed before they can breed their messages of ignorance and hate. Having gotten that off my chest, I also love this quote from Nietzche which is just fantastic: "The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad."

It is the religious right people who act like this...well it makes me think they are no better then the Islamic terrorists who are trying to kill us because they disagree with the way we live our lives.

Both take absurd steps to try to disrupt your life and make it conform to the way 'they' deem it normal.

Makes me sick.

I wonder if any of them stepped over a homeless person while pulling out a gun and killing a doctor who works in an abortion clinic lately?

No sane person could have ever envisioned todays educational system.

Tenure? great idea to begin with; not realy bad

NEA? Perhaps he most idiotic Union. EVer.

[I wasnt very popular with the other teachers; I mean besides the two that tried to seduce me]

As for teacher's like your mom, there's a hero. I got out of high school teaching after 7 years; the energy hit is just too much. Thats a short stretch for a teacher, but It's 900, yep, nine hundred, 45 minute sets a day for a school teacher, in my case; unless you want to sit there and hand things out. That aint me. I taught a college summer school section this summer; first class the techer from next door came in and asked for whoever was talking and yelling so loud to please stop. I yell a lot to get points across; try to be enthusiastic, not that zombie boring as fuck teacher, and I politely apologized while realising; I'm done with it. It's great, I was great, but it's not for me now.

See that is the catch 22 so to speak. I'd love to see Christianity crushed, but I also don't want the other religions to take it's place. I want all religion fucking dead and humanity to wake up to is full potential. But in our free society people are free to make their own wrong descisons, so what can we really do?

If you believe in personal freedom, you have to sit back and allow these folks to make their own foolish descisons.

what is this world coming to? we are supposed to be the "land of the free" why do we as a society care what people do in the privacy of their bedroom??????

I own a business that caters to children and I have about 150 families involved in my business, one family is 2 lesbiens and their 2 sons and I can say that they are the most impressive parents I have ever met they are lving caring an d the only thing they do wrong is spoil those boys with love and any thing they want.

we seem to be moving in reverse in the country and 1950's are rapidly approaching it scares me and it should scare you as well.

That's another interesting point. Lots of straight couples fall into parenthood accidentally. I guess most of them suck it up and do what's right for their kids but a lot don't. They end up hating how their lives changed and don't have the freedom they enjoyed. I'm sure some of that resentment falls on the kid.

Gay couples have to plan to be parents and go through more to either get pregnant or adopt. There's a lot more involved and a lot more thought ahead of time. That probably means that more gay people with kids WANT to be parents than straigh people with kids.

Hmm... so you can't be a christian and the
child of gay parents at the same time? let me guess, you also can't be
deaf but have hearing parents. Presumably, the parents have no problem
with a christian school and the school had no problem with the
children. Was there a condition that said, "if you enroll your child

Not sure who used ebb but in terms of religion; it's been a steady increase across the board over the years with no signs of slowing; numbers in polls on beliefs in God/events in the bible, people who believe in some sort of God, church attendance, books sales on religions; Michael Shermer's 'How We Believe' covers ths extensively in the first chapter. Something like 17 percent church attandance around time of revolution to around 60 percent today.
