One side of the laptop I work on is getting darker, and I'm afraid the whole thing is about to fucking die.

Anyone know if there's something I can do? Like smack a certian side, or an incantation I could start?

This happened to my personal laptop and I had to have it sent in for warranty work. This P.O.S. is way out of warranty. I fear this thing is on it's way out.

If it's a work laptop let them deal with it. You should get a newer laptop in the process, just be sure to clean off all that porn!

This laptop isn't that new. It's always at my desk and sits there when I'm gone. It's a Fujitsu and is at least 2-3 years old now. 6 GB hard drive. The processor is some old Intel that doesn't even give a speed with the name when I check the properties of it. 128 RAM. Running Windows 98. It's not that great but it gets my job done.

If it happens to die, I doubt my boss will get me a new laptop. I'll probably end up with one of the many patchwork computers he has sitting in a graveyard room of parts. Only up side is we have a 17 or 19 inch monitor near my desk that I'll probably get, and the tower he gives me will most likely have XP on it.

But that seems like a big IF at this point too. When the owner came to my desk today to look at it, the screen had stopped doing it as badly as it was earlier in the day. I had the 2 guys in service and my manager confirm it happened, but I'm sure now my boss will think it's just not that bad and forget about it.

There's not a lot of room on my desk, so a laptop would be TITS. The best way this could work out is he gets me a relativly new, somewhat pimped out on memory refurbished one when my current dies. The reality will probably be an old processor, constantly used hard drive, but at least XP will be on it.

And lastly, there isn't a SPECK of porn on the machine. Seriously, where I sit anyone can look over my shoulder. It's not a place to look at porn, and the warehouse/ garage atmosphere doesn't put me in the mood to see it that much. Not that there's a bad time to look at women, just doesn't cross my mind as much there.
