Is a Flash-drive "faster" than a Hard-drive?

The iPod Nano has a flash drive. Does that mean that it can access a song faster than an iPod mini, which has a "regular" hard drive?

Does this also mean that, since there is nothing spinning or moving inside, that the Nano is (virtually) skip-free?

Yeah since there is no moving parts flash drive players are a lot
better for people who like to workout and listen to their MP3
players. They're not going to skip or break from regular movement.
Flash drives also use less power the hard drives increasing battery life since there is no disc to spin, on a side note expect to see flash drive based laptops in the near future.

Thanks guys.

And what about the speed when accessing songs? Will a Flash drive find a stored song faster than a regular hard drive??

In some live band situations, an iPod (mini or 20gb) is used to store the backing tracks. Sometimes, when the drummer has to cue up a track, it takes an honest 5 seconds (which is a lifetime of dead-air on stage). Do you think the Flash drive iPod would take less time to cue?? The same? MORE time??

Thanks.

A flash player would be faster. The only problem
with flash memory is that it gets incredibly expensive to get up to the
storage space of a 30GB iPod.
there is no reason a hard dribe should take 5 seconds to get a song, there is another problem there. Flash is faster than the fastest hard driver, it also uses 30 times less enegery
