Anyone know a nice spot to stay when you visit the NJ shore? Not looking for a pay-by-the-hour pump & dump place...but rather a spot that might be, dare I say, romantic. Maybe that's asking too much...I would settle for some place that qualifies as "nice."

You should maybe look into Renting a house. During the winter months, they are very cheap. You can get one for a weekend for like 300

Thanks to Reef for my sig. You rock. Love Your Grandson Frank

It's gonna be BAM, I crush his little skull and I sit down and smoke a cigar for another 55 seconds. The next kid comes in, BAM I put my cigar out on him. I laugh and point at the other kids "Who's next chubby?"

Rodeway Inn (formerly the Comfort Inn) in Wall I think on 35. It's practically empty for what you want to do.

Say
no to the Belmar Inn and the Mayfair, as well as any of the places in
Asbury Park, or the Excutive Inn or Martin Motel in Tinton Falls, and
the Village Lodge in Wall.

Any specific location? Ya have essentially from sandy hook to cape may, and a lot in between, and it varies widely from town to town. They may be only 10 mins apart, but your hotel experiences in say, asbury park and spring lake will be quite different.

If you stayed at The Chateau and didn't tell me prior to I will kill you. That's my neighbors hotel. I coulda used someone on the inside to plant more dog shit. I've lived in Spring Lake for 28 years. What on earth is there to do here besides drink cause I still don't know.

I tried to stay at the Chateau, but it was booked. I like that place. And I would recommend it. They are doing some serious remodeling. The rooms look fantastic.

No I stayed at the Ocean Inn or something like that. It was a block away from the beach. (Imagine that...honesty in advertiseing!) But the next time I come down, and it will be in Nov. or Dec. it will be at the Chateau again.

We went to a place the next town south of you...Irish Pub, to watch the Yanks game and go drinking. Then came home....got undressed....and had sex for the first time (with each other that is). It was fantastic! But I usually go down to spring lake for the hotels and B&B's.

The peeps at my wedding stayed at the Chateau. Not sure how much poop they encountered.

And yer right, there is nothing to do in SL. Except for a couple of food markets, there isnt a store in the whole town that I've been in, and I lived there 10 years.

Biggio of the Houston Astros has a place there a block from my moms place.

Only time Spring Lake was interesting was when a guy had his legs chomped off by a shark back around 1917, the shark attacked other places, Benchley read about it, inspiring the book Jaws.

If you want romantic, be sure to try Berkely Carteret in Asbury Park.

As for things to do in Spring Lake, I highly suggest Teddy Bears By The Seashore during the day, Susan Murphy's by night, and a midnight stroll around Mary Higgins Clark's house.

Rent a minivan and park by the beach.

Actually James, that is not a bad suggestion. I would rent a conversion van and not a mini but not a bad suggestion all the same.

I like hotels better though. Thanks for future ideas.
