A warning to Ronfez.Net members: AIM trojan [Archive]

Like an idiot I fell victim to an AIM worm that im'd me from one of my friend's accounts with a link to a website which prompted me to download a file. The funny thing is this particular person was the PERFECT choice of all my buddy list members to im me a trojan with, so I never even suspected it would work. The trojan installs a buddy list screener, key logger, and ad-ware on your computer which reduces it to screetching halt. Its self regenerating, periodically disables popular spyware services, the windows installer and MS anti-spyware preventing it from doing its job. It's a nasty bugger, and even with all my skills I still felt the need to reformat my pc. Nearly all of my Staten Island friends who actively use AIM were infected.If you recieve any im from me or anyone else saying "check this out, its cool" with a link which then prompts you to download an executable or command file (extension .com) immediately press cancel, close the window, and inform the person he/she is infected. Word to the wise. Even the better computer geeks out there can be duped once in a while. Jeff

I've had it before, but the IM sent to me said "Hey check this out, is this you?"during this time i didnt have a virus scanner/etc. So i ended up buying Norton Internet Security and havent looked back
