I don't consider Ghost World a chick flick but I enjoyed it immensely.

why wouldn't you consider it a chick flick?
the whole movie is about the friendship between enid and rebecca.
it's a chick flick.

I don't know the 'definition' of chick flick I have involves typical cliche plots, cliche lines, and revolves around a predictable romance which wasn't what how I viewed "Ghost World." I consider it more of the teen subgenre though it's so much more than that.

hmm, none of the movies i listed (other than say anything) have any cliche plots, cliche lines, or predictable romantic endings.
when i think of a "chick flick" i think:
a movie that is about women/girls and is directed by a female
a movie that somehow empowers other women/girls
a movie in which a female is the principle character and has some influence over the other characters in the movie
etc...
ghost world, to me, was a certified chick flick, even though it was directed by a male.

as a guy i feel less masculine if i like a chick flick, OK!? Is that what you wanted to hear!?
Other than that I guess we all have differnet definitions of a chick flick, yours is different than mine.

but i'm a cheerleader was a really good movie, but i wouldn't consider it a "chick flick". nor would i consider ghost world to be one. i guess i subscribe to something closer to ikeaboy's definition of what a chick flick is. i always thought of it as a sort of derogatory term for cheesy, predictable, tear jerker romance type movies. more like a movie that your stereotypical overly sensitive woman might enjoy, but her head of the household, bring home the bacon husband wouldn't.
most of the movies that people have put up hear are about women and their lives and relationships, but i wouldn't call them chick flicks. just my opinion...
