since i know that most people who listen to talk radio and hang out on message boards all day are generally fashionistas with their well-manicured little fingers on the proverbial pulse... i have a question, breast jokes be damned.when it comes to men's suits, what is in style right now?  are double-breasted suits out?

Double breasted suits always look comically huge, like David Byrne from his old Talking Head live shows.  Unless someone is planning to go for the old zoot suit look, stay with the single breast suits.

An elder gentleman would most likely prefer the traditional styling of a single-breasted suit.  Unless he is a gangster.  Then it is double breasted all the way.

Double breasted suits always look comically hugeWhich is why I like them -- they hide my rock star physique.However, most of my new suits are single breasted.  On the double breasted I always seem to wear out the buttons.

For most men, single breasted is the way to go. Some people can pull off the double, and when they can, it can be awesome. Whenever I think of a good looking suit, the first thing that pops into my mind is Jim Vance from WRC 4 in Washington. I'd LOVE to own even one suit as nice as any of his!<img src="http://www.meiwahrestaurant.com/images/photo_gallery/images/la_jim_vance.jpg" border="0" />I wouldn't mind playing with his collection of cars, either.

a double-breasted only really looks good in a navy blue, pinstripe british kind of way ... and the jacket should remain closed (letterman always looks bad with the coat open) ...the classic two-button suit works for most guys, and only tall guys (6' plus) can pull off the new styled, three-button suits ...and suits should only really be black, dark blue or grey ... a dark green (olive/loden) or brown may be permitted ... and they should never be shiny ...

I actually look good double breasted. My broad shoulders, and tapered waist make a great setting for this. But NEVER unbuttoned! It is either buttoned, or taken off to show my exquisitely matched tie and suspenders!

Single-breasted is more versitle  - open or closed. Double-breasted never works unbuttoned and is a bitch to get tailored correctly if it needs to be adjusted. All the buttons need to be repositioned, etc.I just got a three-button single a couple of days ago (I'm 6'4") and it only needed slight adjustment to the cuffs (a rarity for me).

Is it weird that I don't own a suit?  I never have need of one.  My work is like blue collar with a white collar computer/office work twist, but I need to be ready to get dirty if it's called for.  If I go out it's either casual or a nice shirt.  Slacks are kinda me SUPER nice/Funeral look.  Gots a few pieces of BLING BLING on the fingas and a phat watch.I just don't have a use for a suit.Anyone know any Canadian trappers that I can get one from?
