I think it started around the time when WNEW started up, he lost Jackie and his divorce all hit. He had attained a lot of entertainment status, and that's around the time he started to get really paranoid.

So I'd say like 5 years ago.

WOW, that long ago? I started listening to Stern in the mid to late 90's and I don't remember him being like this at all.

I guess he was just funny back then so you didn't notice the "Ripped me off" talk as much. He sucks now so you notice it.

Anyone who listens/used to listen to Stern knows that Fred doesn't talk much so that is probably not something he would say very often. That adds one more layer of funny to me when O&A play that clip.

Otherwise I think Stern has been doing that "I invented that" thing for as long as he's been syndicated. It started to get really bad a few years back, but he's been claiming to invent stuff for a long time. My favorite is when I heard him accuse Jimmy Kimmel of ripping off his idea of playing Bingo (Stern played "Bango" to give away a sex act, Jimmy actually played the game "Bingo" which I'm pretty sure Stern didn't invent, and I don't think Jimmy was giving away a sex act)

Stern was talking about people ripping him off for as far back as I can
remember (mark & brian, rick dees, etc.). When Howard said he
invented Wow 3-5 years ago, he said "Tell 'em Fred." That clip
gets played often during breaks.
Mojo has the best Stern analysis ever by asserting that Stern has become the new version of Imus. That pretty much sums everything up right there.

Is there any audio files of this? I've love to hear it.

it was a friday, (07/27/01) midday show ... there was also a great paul-o bit that day

Paul Morgan Plans To Amputate His Own Feet. 7/27/01. 9:10am
This guy Paul Morgan is planning on cutting off his own feet on his web site CutOffMyFeet.com on September 19th of this year. He told Howard how he was in an accident about 15 years ago when he fell from a truck while trying to climb onto a trailer while the vehicle was moving. He got run over and was paralyzed from his waist down. Now he's recovered quite a bit but he has no feeling in his feet. He now wants to get a prosthetic device that would enable him to run and walk relatively normal but it will cost him between $20,000 and $50,000. He's decided to cut his feet off by guillotine on his web site. People can sign up for $19.95 to see the event happen live. Howard told the guy that maybe he should just wait it out and see what the medical profession will come up with in the next few years. Paul said he's been waiting 15 years and it isn't happening yet. He also said that his health coverage company won't help him pay for the prosthesis so he has to do it himself. Howard and Artie were joking with the guy about what else he could do to make the amputation more interesting. They suggested that he barbecue his foot at one point after Paul said that someone offered to eat his foot. They also said that they'd like to see a pit bull eat the foot off instead of it being cut off. Paul, who's from Mississippi, said that as long as he didn't have to be rotated on a ''spic'' he'd be fine with the barbecue thing. Howard and Artie started laughing and goofing on the ''spic'' thing with their southern accents. Howard had to tell Paul that it's a ''spit'' not a ''spic'' that they use in a barbecue.

Howard took a couple of phone calls and one guy said Paul has changed his story already about how he's going to be doing this. It's not a perfect plan so there will be changes. Another guy said that Paul was on the Ron and Fez show yesterday talking about this stuff so he thinks that Howard is now ripping them off... even though Howard has been mentioning that he'd be a guest for weeks now. Even Paul acknowledged that other radio guys rushed to get him on after Howard mentioned he was going to have him as a guest.
[/quote]

I've been reluctant to ask this because I didn't want to seem stupid (moreso) but...

Can someone please explain what exactly "hoo hoo" means? I know Stern continually claims credit for "inventing" stuff but what does the "hoo hoo" part mean?

Stern laughs in this stupid way, where it sounds like he is saying "hoo hoo". After 20 years it gets annoying as piss.

Oh speaking of afflection. He says "Robin" (Raw-Bin), like he has at least 2 sets of balls in his mouth. Hmmm. that would be Gary's and Fred's. Crazy rich or not, fuck-nut at least has to know that he has ridden the talent of his people for 10 years. They are the only reason the show doesn't have less ratings than Imus. (Though Imus is better.)

First off, I'm not 100% that afflection is a real word. 2nd, say what you want about Stern, but Imus is fucking unlistenable.
