He said in an interview on TNAWrestling.com that the next title he wants to go after is the X-Division title from Samoa Joe. Will somebody please tell TNA that they need to put some qualifications on that title belt in order for it to not be just a belt that says, "If you wrestle like a cruiserweight you can have this belt"? I'm pretty sure Angle does not wrestle like Joe, Daniels, Styles, Sabin, or Shelley.

If someone created a thread titled "How would you book TNA", I bet pretty much everyones ideas would be better than what they are playing now. This whole Titles vs titles shit is gonna be a major clusterfuck. More clusterfuck than usual with probably either Angle/Joe(which has been done already with the Face/Heel tag team Styles/Abyss) being the tag champs or a DQ.

I feel the problem with TNA is way too many 3 man matches or 4 man. I want simple one on one matches. 3 way matches are good at times but they just do it way too much. According to there crazy books has Christian been pinned yet in a one on one encounter yet? IT is just sad because they have a good amount of talent

on thurs there will be a triple threat tag team match for the championship
team 3d vs lax vs styles and daniels
at the ppv it will be angle the heavyweight champ and samoa joe the x division champ
vs
whoever wins the tag team match
now i cant see them having either of the dudleys or lax win at the ppv making that person the heavyweight champion or x division champion
so what i see is styles and daniels winning the tag belts on thurs and then at the ppv kurt angle costing joe the x division title which will lead to a fued betw them for the heavyweight title and either styles or daniels becoming the x division champion thanks to help from kurt

- Samoa Joe was offered a three-year contract extension by TNA, but Joe didn't sign it.
I wonder if Joe realizes he had it better in the indies.. In RoH he was known for having a kickass title reign, and in TNA he jobs to Tomko.

Samoa Joe coming back to ROH would be great for them. I'm glad for the company that they are on PPV, but the losses of Joe, Punk, Cabana, Homicide and Aries (although he is back now) took a big chunk out of their roster depth.
I want to like TNA, but I just can't get into it, and losing Joe would be big.

Everytime I watch TNA you get the feeling that Samoa Joe is definitely on the cusp of winning the Heavyweight Title....the same feeling I always had in ECW when Awesome was the champ & RVD was the TV champ.
It's only a matter of time and circumstance.....

The whole "run-in" during or after the match has to stop. Seriously. So far(as of 9:30) out of two matches the following occured:
Abyss beats Hoyt: Basham comes out to save Hoyt, followed by VKM attacking Basham/Hoyt, then Styles/Tomko comes out to beat up Abyss which leads to Sting coming out and attacking Styles/Tomko.
Kaz vs Martyr vs Havok: Kaz wins, which leads to Raven coming out and canning Kaz, then Havok and Martyr join in.
I fear what the runins are going to be once the main event hits.

According to the spoiler reports:
Joe steals all of Angle's belts then challenges him to a winner takes all match at the next PPV. So for the time being, we have no tag team champions. And if Angle wins, TNA is just as crazy as he is.
JesterOfSadness
07-17-2007, 05:20 AM
Yeah..I wasn't fully paying attention to everything, but I really wonder how this will all plan out, especially since "Joe hasn't resigned yet". If he wins the world title, then he probably resigned, if not...well I dunno..I guess Angle will "dominate" TNA.
This does kinda remind me of when they gave almost every belt to Lance Storm in WCW (an angle that I loved to be honest), although it all sank to shit once he gave most away to Team Canada.

TNA keeps promoting some former champion is in negotiation to come to TNA
you have to text some number to find out who it is
dont know if its a former tna champ or wwe/wcw champ
but if it aint hogan ( who i remember on hogan knows best signed a 20 yr deal with vince) so it may not be him the only other former champ i can think of is chris jericho

Two men facing off in an all or nothing match for all the gold at Hard Justice:
Samoa Joe - X-Division, Tag Team Champion (with no partner)
vs.
Kurt Angle - TNA World Heavyweight Champion and IWGP Champion (I guess they're recognizing it officially)
Winner gets all the gold.

My problem is that one man shouldn't have control over the tag belts, as I think that just kills the credibility of the belts in general.
And if XXX feuds with Serotonin, that's basically a huge step down, considering that they are nothing but jobbers who get canned at the result of their loses. Plus I think they are still feuding with Kaz for some reason I really don't think they've explained.

I know he was with them before, I just hope there is an actual ending point to it. Will Havok/Martyr turn against Raven and disband, or will it just be continous with Kaz getting the cane shots after his match? When I first saw Serotonin, I thought it would actually be a threat for the tag belts(Especially since Martyr and Kaz have been a tag team before), but they seem to be the new Diamonds in the Rough.
I'll admit though, I'm more interested in this feud than I am with the Rhoode/Young feud and the VKM/Hemme feud that seems to last forever.
Edit: Also Kaz and Martyr were Co-X division champions at one point also.

Sonjay Dutt recently suffered a shoulder tear and doctors told him he would need an MRI. Terry Taylor told Dutt that TNA would not pay for the MRI. This has caused an extreme amount of heat among the younger wrestlers in the company.
Yikes...............

07-22-2007, 05:19 AM
I remember when most of the younger wrestlers had to squeeze into hotel rooms, because they wouldn't pay for hotel fees(Could be wrong), and now a wrestler, who I think is contracted with TNA, can't get them to pay for an MRI. I guess if your name isn't Kurt Angle or Sting, you're fucked.

This is why TNA shouldn't have bothered with the big name talent on a permanent roster and just have focused on bringing in fresh names that no one had seen before to really have an alternative edge on the competition. It would have been fresh, different, and not a WCW rehash.

I remember reading something on either the Observer or some other article, on one TNA PPV that critics completely trashed, and everyone in the TNA staff thought that the critics were hired on WWEs payroll just to trash them. Last I heard, WWE doesn't even have TNA on their radar screen.
Well TNA, where's my fucking WWE paycheck? I bashed their PPVs constantly and I'm just a wrestling fan that's depressed seeing a promotion that could be great, completely going down the shitter each week. I'm glad NWA isn't associated with them anymore, as TNA completely killed the NWA title.
Now we might have someone like Bryan Danielson or Claudio Castagnoli possibly winning that belt, and actually making it mean something.

I've only watched Impact maybe 5 or 6 times, but that is one of my main problems with it, it just seems like every single match has to have some sort of gimmick, and they're not even good gimmick. That and the fact that for some reason the six sided ring just irks me.
Brother Grimm
08-11-2007, 05:48 AM
I hate that ring too. I watched one match like a year ago and some nobody went to swing Raven off the ropes and he genuinely looked confused as to which rope he should be running to.
I tried to watch it again to see the New Age Outlaws but for some reason they never fucking wrestle.
That giant Mankind/Kane knockoff Abyss sucks too.

Yeech. I honestly can't even stand to watch TNA in lengthy doses. But this crap, jeez. Angle is certainly deserved of a title, but come on now, this is getting ridiculous.
Seriously though, TNA makes me yearn for those WCW Saturday Nights.
How many fucking titles are they gunna give him?? Just end this hack fed now..
Agreed...this is far, far worse than the very worst days of WCW. TNA doesn't even resemble what it was originally suppose to be.
It was suppose to be the alternative that was all about wrestling, with athletcisim and the best new stars they could find.
Instead, it is a chance for every washed up hack still floating around the wrestling business to cash some checks. Honestly...I never ever believed I would hear the words 'Dream Match' attached to anything involving The Steiners and The Dudleys in 2007.
And Russo and Jarrett have taken guys like Angle and Christian who were two of the most interesting guys in WWE right before they left and made them unwatchable.
Unless the company gets sold and new people are brought in to write the shows, it's never going to be more than it is right now.

Why not attach it to that, they attach it to most of their matches at every PPV they put on.
I think that is more of a Dream Match than Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe pt 20. It may have been a dream match the first time, but now they've driven that one into the ground.

I've heard rumors that TNA giving Angle the X-Division Championship may be the end of the X-Division.
But why have X-Division matches when you've got the likes of wrestling greats Matt Morgan, "The Punisher" Andrew Martin and Tomko? Plus there are rumors that they're looking into A-Train & Rikishi too. I'll take a Rikishi over a Senshi any day!!
Seriously, somebody get them a wellness policy & make this go away.

Rumors of Shelly "Ariel" Martinez headed to TNA Wrestling are true. The former manager of Kevin Thorne on WWE's ECW brand will make her TNA debut at TNA's biggest PPV of the year, Bound For Glory.
Shelly Martinez will join Angel Williams, Talia Madison, Amazing Kong, and ODB (formerly Poison in TNA) as the final 5 mystery participants of the 10-Woman Battle Royale at the PPV.
Martinez is expected to be a big part of TNA's new women's division. She will not be able to use her "Vampire" gimmick from WWE. She has a new "punk" look that is sure to get her noticed in TNA.

Senshi quit as he took the offer of management saying that whoever is still unhappy will be allowed to have their contract immediately voided.
Samoa Joe appologized for his words that weren't planned in the promo as he and Nash had a bit of an altercation backstage after the show went off the air.
Is this actually going to make some waves in TNA? Will management finally figure out that bringing in a former WWE star won't be the key to higher ratings?

- Christian is Number One contender again for the Heavyweight Title
- BG James decided to choose his father, 67 year old "Bullet" Bob Armstrong, as his partner for his upcoming TNA Tag Team Championship title shot
- Father James Mitchell revealed that he is in fact the father of Chris "Abyss" Parks
- And finally, no one STILL cares about TNA after tonight
As far as this Global Impact special goes, it sucks. I thought we were going to see the matches they were involved with at the event, but all we're getting is a documentary about their experience in the show, completely out of character, and boring as hell. The only match we the "fans" get to see is Kurt Angle's IWGP title defense. I would have saved all this documentary stuff for a DVD.

Why don't we just drop spoilers here so people don't have to waste their time. Every time i try to watch TNA nowadays it makes me want to hate it.
As for Global Impact. . . i thought they were going to show atleast one other match than the Angle/Nagata battle. I might pick up the DVD, as long as I can listen to the Japanese Commentary, Mike Tenay gets on my nerves more than Don West.
Edit: But being that Christopher Daniels was (kayfabe) fired from TNA, but was on the show representing TNA. And the Actual IWGP World Heavyweight Champion is Shinsuke Nakamura (due to Angle's IWGP title not being recognized from the Brock Lesner debocle). . . we might not see this even in it entirety in the states

As it was pointed out, that was during the Sharkboy segments. Don't get me wrong, I've never been big on Sharkie, but having these segments with the Shark Family wasn't horrible. I saw it as an homage to Lucha libre, only in the sense of a family that all were the same style mask.
As for the Mexicans, as you called them, that was was LAX (Latin American Xchange). They consist of Homicide, Hernandez, and Salinas (Shelly Martinez [ECW's Ariel]). While it is stereotypical to have Hispanics (specifically Puerto Ricans) be thieves of one sort or another. It wasn't the best move TNA could have done with them. But atleast they gave Wildcat Chris Harris his last TNA TV appearance.

I'm watching it now. There was a glimmer of hope in the beginning of the show when AJ Styles stood up to Kurt Angle and reminded him that he's a former 3-time TNA Champion. I'd like to think that perhaps they're going back and remembering that the ones who were there from the beginning were the ones that got TNA where it is today.
Yet consistency is still an issue because I saw them announce how Samoa Joe was named the Special Enforcer in the main event of Christian vs. Angle for the title, an idea that Cornette had proposed to Samoa Joe but he said no to. I'm pretty sure instead of the enforcer role he asked for a raise and a five year deal. Was that supposed to be in addition to the enforcer/title shot at Lockdown stipulation? My head hurts.
Don West, I hate you. Mike Tenay, I hate you. To be honest it's not a matter of suing. I'm just pissed off that this is the best they can think of as far as gimmicks for wrestlers. It really bothers me that they have a handful of talent that are unique and gifted in the ring and don't do a damn thing about it. This is why they will fail.
ToddEVF
02-10-2008, 04:51 PM
well with Raven now gone from TNA, as they let his contract run out (and he hadn't worked much due to his thyroid condition), they should have tried him as a member of the creative team and axed Russo. That is what the problem is the writing is horrible. Same can be said about WWE.
However, being still a fresh company that tried right away to be in the spotlight hurt TNA.

They closed the PPV with a video package on TNA Wrestling, telling us to Cross The Line. Because the line between good and evil is blurred. Because they don't know how to tell stories or define characters. Thanks for the heads up.

Something's telling me that if TNA booked Samoa Joe the way they booked Awesome Kong, they'd have a sure fire hit. Hell if they took as much time to put the effort of booking into the rest of their show like they do their women's division, they'd have a better show all together.
cougarjake13
02-11-2008, 03:17 PM
should they sue? Maybe, then they should also sue because MMG and Jay Lethal did a skit dressed as the Dudley Boys and *gasp* even used the name Bubba Ray Dudley. Well, Chris Saban dressed as Johnny Devine. . . but still TNA used the name. . .

that is ironic though. The women actually wrestle in TNA and its better than what WWE has tried for years. However, the rest of their show stinks on ice.
Maybe if they ran the show without the underlying storyline that is given at the start of every edition they might gets some points.
Also demoting Tenay to interviewer and West to Merch. hocker would help.

Yeah but it's not even like they're doing a parody. They're saying he's got a "new attitude" as if this is a thing we've never seen before. The music is a blatant rip off, the vest, the move set, it's all just waiting to be destroyed by lawyers. The only thing that bothers me is that WWE thinks they're above that. For Christ's sake don't let them get away with this crap! Force them to be original! Sue, dammit, SUE!!!

Personally I don't want to see Tenay or West fired, I just don't want to see them at all.
Replace West with a retired/retiring heel wrestler and replace Tenay with Spicy.
next would be getting me a writing gig with TNA. Because then I would be a little bit more entertaining.
Maybe mix things up and have a storyline where Angle is stripped of the title and tries everything to get it back, only to be put to the bottom of the ranking. Along the way he faces the likes of Booker T, Christian Cage, Elix Skipper, Eric Young, etc. dismantling them as he lusts to have his title back. Cue the insane wrestling machine Kurt Angle. The storyline would be used to make Angle seem extremely dangerous and raise his stock a bit. Also it would help show the midcard a bit.

Todd, strangely enough I think they're going in that direction because it seems that Kurt is so focused on wrestling and keeping his title and not on his relationships, which does add some drama, and let's face it, there's always going to be that element in pro wrestling.
And thanks for your confidence vote on commentating. If I had to work with a veteran heel to commentate alongside, I'd like to pick Scott D'Amore, former Team Canada head coach. I loved his stuff because I think it always works when you have a heel commentator who puts over everything the bad guy does as being legit and hates and detests any noble deed a good guy does. It's such a fun element to work off of and I think he could do that. Too many of these commentary teams (save King and JR) are doing the "sports analyzing" style of pro wrestling commentary. That only works if that's the type of product you're presenting. If you're doing good guys vs. bad guys, then you need a good guy to call the action and a bad guy to throw in his two-cents.
ToddEVF
03-08-2008, 09:00 PM
every great commentary team has the heel. WWE seems to be getting away from it a bit, but then again their product hasn't been the best either.
Cougar, I agree with removing Angle and Cage from the title picture. I would also go as far as not putting Samoa Joe or Booker T in the picture as well. I'm actually looking forward to having Jeff Jarrett hold the title again. He may have not been the best or most liked champion, but even to give him the strap for a month or so, just for the purpose of setting up a non-title feud between another top name in the company. this is how I see it. . .
King of the Mountain Match
Jeff Jarrett as a last minute replacement for an "injured" Angle. Jarrett wins the match only to lose it at the following PPV to Scott Steiner (who would later lose it to someone like Petey Williams).
Angle pissed he was unable to defend his title targets Jarrett, who even though is no longer champ is still considered the reason Angle was unable to compete in the KotM. The feud lasts about 2 months to cleanse the fans pallet (so to speak) of Angle as the top guy.
The feud ends in an Ironman Submission match, where Jarrett has Angle tap to the figure 4 leg lock with under 10 seconds left. The Jarrett goes back to working behind the scenes as he doesn't need to prove himself to anyone as he made "The Olympic Gold Medalist" tap.

A few technical errors aside (audio cutting out, Booker's pyro still going), this show hasn't been bad. In case you missed, WWE star Robbie McAllister was briefly shown in the audience during tonight's live edition of TNA iMPACT!.
Earlier in the day, he lined up with fans to get in the building. TNA found out he was in the audience when employees spotted him in the crowd. A graphic referred to him by his real name to prevent any issues that would arise by calling him by his trademarked WWE ring name.
Shortly after Robbie was shown on TV, he left the taping. WWE officials found out about this immediately and contacted him upset over the situation. We're told he got a call and was told to leave. Talk about backstage heat?!?!?!
Backstage, the word is that TNA talent & staff are barred from visiting WWE talent at their hotel. This is the same hotel TNA talent usually stays it following the tapings. We guess they'll need to find a new place to stay tonight.
Wonder how long before we see him getting "the best of luck in his future endeavors"?

ProWrestling.net is reporting that WWE’s Robbie McAllister told fans who ran into him in Orlando today that WWE is sending him home and he will not be part of WrestleMania 24. If Robbie is shooting straight with the fans, it can be assumed that this is his punishment for being at the live TNA broadcast last night.

Oh I totally agree. TNA did do a dick move, but at the same time WWE forbid their talent from even interacting with TNA. I believe Chavo would have a reason to throw caution to the wind as he could have been visiting his Uncle Hector.
I also noticed how former WWE talent seemed to work even harder last night, like they were trying to prove something. But then again same could be said about some of the other talent as they could possible use TNA to get some kind of deal with WWE.
Plus, i wouldn't be surprised if WWE sent some of their employees to the show to possibly scout new talent. If i remember reading this right, there were 700 "VIPs" who attended the show. And many fans were turned away, but offered VIP Passes for Friday (today) and Saturday's tapings.

- It seems that World Wrestling Entertainment's strict warning that superstars should not communicate with any TNA talent over WrestleMania weekend has fallen on deaf ears.
John Laurinaits, WWE's senior vice president, was seen hanging out with TNA vice president Jeff Jarrett in an Orlando bar on Friday night/early Saturday morning. One source also claims that wrestlers from both companies were also hanging out at the same bar.
Either heads will roll or something major is going on. Could this possibly mean a TNA invasion at 'Mania? I doubt it, but you have Vice Presidents from rival companies "hanging out" at a bar together? Something definitely doesn't smell right.

More developments on the story
Source: Prowrestling.net
As reported exclusively on Dot Net early this morning, WWE senior vice president John Laurinaitis and TNA vice president Jeff Jarrett were among the representatives of both companies hanging out together in an Orlando bar on Friday night.
One observer who was among those at the bar said Jarrett looked very surprised when he walked in and spotted so many WWE performers at the bar. However, he and Laurinaitis were spotted chatting for a brief time and all the wrestlers continued to hang out.
Here's a list of some of the talent and personnel who were hanging out at the bar/restaurant located near the airport: Laurinaitis, Jarrett, Kevin Nash, MVP, Karen Angle, Mr. Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin, Edge, Christian, Samoa Joe, Rhino, Robert Roode, Gail Kim, Scott Steiner, ODB, Traci Brooks, Jeremy Broash, and poor David Penzer, who was telling people he lost his cell phone.
Former WCW wrestler Glacier (a/k/a Ray Lloyd), who is now a middle school teacher, was also hanging out at the bar and visiting friends. At least one member of Curt Hennig's family was in the bar.
I knew it was a matter of time that something like this happened. . .
. . . and by that I mean Glacier resurfacing.

A little insight into how the house shows are run...
WrestlingAttitude.com:
Jeremy Borash has been put in control of TNA house shows and is trying to push them to become a bigger deal. He wants to make them a complete experience with both wrestling and meeting the wrestlers to offer something different at their house shows. After the shows they will be bringing some wrestlers and personalities out for autographs, but they won’t announce who they are until the very end of the show.
The company is trying to book venues that hold closer to 1,000 rather than 5,000 and up, a trick that Paul Heyman used in the ECW days to give it the packed house atmosphere.
TNA is actually making money by doing house show tours because they keep the overhead low. They only have a two person ring crew and Jeremy Borash handles the music and lighting and hosts the show. All of the match finishes and angles are sent from the Nashville offices via email and they are straight forward short action-filled matches where the company tries to use clean finishes almost all the time. As previously noted, it looks like TNA actually became profitable in 2007 which had to put a smiles on the faces of the Carters.
My question is why not just use this method of booking for the television shows? You can still have storylines, but as far as in ring action, why not use this theory that clearly seems to work as people are getting a better show live than they are on TV.
conman823
04-16-2008, 06:39 PM
The article mentions low overhead cost. I would think the costs would go up with having to drag arond TV equipment.
TNA seems to be taking baby steps which I feel is a good idea. Slowly crawling up and hopefully making some money doing it.
After Vince dies and his kids blow up the business, TNA will be still a viable TV product.
SpicyMcHaggis
04-16-2008, 06:56 PM
I understand the budget that goes into their television show (which I think is still too much with all the laser lights and set that looks like the inside of a pinball machine), but booking wise, why not have this come to tv? There are no stupid gimmick matches or anything. Just straight up wrestling.

Because the basic rule of Good guy Vs. Bad guy can only work if your passing through the town. TV needs ongoing stoylines to "keep you locked in" week after week.
I always said a House show is usually better quality because you know the characters and get to see them wrestle. I was at MSG when Hogan returned for the first time in like 8 years. It blew the roof off the place, He was facing the then Undisputed Champion Undertaker for the belt. The 2 put on a fucking classic, the finish was a Vince run in to save the Undertaker. Vince and Hogan went at it, the place was fucking insane at this point. One of the greatest matches I've ever seen..and nobody else ever will.
Somewhere the balance for TV became 3 parts "talk"/1 part "wrestling", its just sad.

Yeah sounds about right. it was right after WM18. Also on the card was Flair v. Lesner, and NWO (XPac and Big Show) were in action. Also a ladder match with Hardy and I wanna say Benoit but i'm not sure. The card was better then a fucking PPV.

Abyss should come back sans gimmick.
If you watch telemundo Luche Libre Abyss does work down there without the mask, so no real shocker for me.

I'm watching the Slammiversary PPV. TNA has no distinctive sets for their PPV's. Everything looks the same. There's no real identity to it.

To me, TNA seems like a big clusterfuck. The announcers yell and try to oversell everything, they cut to the back every couple of minutes (a few weeks back, they cut out of AJ Styles getting revenge on all of the heels for some silly backstage thing) and every PPV looks exactly the same. Sure, the in-ring stuff is good when it's given a chance, but with all the run-ins and ADD stuff going on, it's nauseating to watch.
And that's not even covering all the horrible stories and goofy characters.

You don't raise shell like Shark Boy? At first it was fun to see him act like Stone Cold, now it's just sad.
