What's the deal with guys not being able to see what their friends see clearly. What do you do in this situation? Your buddy is with a horrible person. Grin and bear it or tell him the truth about is girlfriend? Look at this blog. I think Jen is doing the right thing but now it looks like a war is brewing.

Edited for punctuation.

unfortunately, there's nothing really you can say that will change his mind. you could also risk losing his friendship if you keep bringing it up and/or constantly bash her. she sounds like a mental case, and im sure this is something he's going to figure out sooner or later.

Man, I can completely fucking relate to this. My last roommate, pretty much my best friend here where I live now, moved out a few months back to move in with his girlfriend up in her new place in Baltimore. Honestly, I can't even begin to understand what he sees in her, and neither can ANY of our mutual friends. She's this uptight, humorless, faux-hipster little vegan that is easily the most miserable person I've ever met. My friend is in the WORST situation in the world because she runs everything...she owns the house, he has no car, she's paying for his school...works now, but when it all goes to shit he's fucked. PROPER fucked. As best as I can tell, the only reason he's so into this is that for once he's in a relationship with a woman who's running things, whether he knows it or not. All of his past girlfriends left most or all of the major decisions between them up to him completely, and it always ended up kinda freaking him out and pushing him away. Now he meets this chick who diabolically flatters him in such a way he THINKS he's running the show, but she's really calling ALL of the shots...and subconciously he knows that, and that's how he got sucked in.

Sad, sad state of affairs.

You know, who are we to play matchmaker? At least they're not alone.
Mind your business. That's my advice.

If I had a friend who questioned my relationships I would stop talking to that "friend."

It's not like I'm demanding he does something. As his best friend I very diplomatically let him know how I felt after they had been dating for a few months. Given that since he was my roommate and that meant she was around ALL THE TIME since she's one of those ultra-clingy types who needs to spend every free moment with her SO, I think I get to voice my opinion when she's invading my sanctuary from people LIKE her on a daily basis.

And like I said, it was diplomatic. I'd never think of telling him he couldn't or even shouldn't date someone...it was more like, "I really can't stand the person you're dating, and she's in my home 6 out of 7 days. She can be here 3 days a week, but I get 4 where she's not here, since I actually pay to friggin' live here."

When he was moving out, I told him why I thought it was a bad idea and that was that. He made his choice, I said what I wanted to say and we're still good friends. I'm not going to stop being his friend because of who he dates, and he's not going to not be mine because I have an opinion.

All my friends knew my 1st wife was wrong for me, but the ones who tried to tell me about it, I resented. I know now, they were right, but I had to find out for myself. You shouldn't do anything, but be a good buddy when he finally figures it out.
