Story (http://www.itv.com/news/index_1447362.html)

A former CIA director has claimed that torture is condoned and even approved by the Bush government.

The devastating accusations have been made by Admiral Stansfield Turner
who labelled Dick Cheney "a vice president for torture".

He said: "We have crossed the line into dangerous territory".

The American Senate says torture should be banned - whatever the
justification. But President Bush has threatened to veto their ruling.

The former
spymaster claims President Bush is not telling the truth when he says
that torture is not a method used by the US.

Speaking of
Bush's claims that the US does not use torture, Admiral Turner, who ran
the CIA from 1977 to 1981, said: "I do not believe him".

On Dick Cheney he said "I'm embarrassed the United States has a vice president for torture.

He's an definitely an expert on torture. He was the CIA chief during
the Carter administration, which was 4 years of torture.

I didn't even have to open this thread to know which former DCI said this.

The former spymaster claims President Bush is not telling the truth when he says that torture is not a method used by the US.

He must know this based on the fact that torture was used on HIS watch.

I fucking love the fact that Cheney and Bush have made it much more likely that I will be arrested and abused for being a journalist in a country that hates journalists. Being American here isn't risky in itself. But what I do worry about - as I've written before - is that I could be picked up while trying to write about something this government doesn't like me writing about, then having some jackass police or intelligence fucker beating the shit out of me as some percieved retribution for all the Yemenis being held in Guantanamo and those who, no doubt, have been beaten and tortured by American military and intelligence forces. If it were to happen I'm sure I'd recieve a nice apology from the president and the person responsible, (or, like in the US, some poor dumb-ass who thought he was doing what he was supposed to do), will be punished. The whole scenario is, in fact, still unlikely, because to harm a westerner, in both this government and culture, is very much a shamefull and foolish thing to do. However, the fact that everyone in the world knows that America is now a serial torturer and human rights abuser makes it much more likely than before the Bush administration's acceptance of torture that I will be seriously fucked up if I find myself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Europeans, on the other hand, who do this work here are at no risk of this.

So, for this little personal threat that this administration has brought into my life, I'd like to give a big FUCK YOU, YOU SYPHLITIC-RAT-FUCKING COCKSUCKERS to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Fieth, Wolfowitz, Rove, Gonzalez, and all you other pieces of shit who think that torture is a cool way to get intelligence - even when every credible expert says the opposite. You truly are scum.

And I'm sure US soldiers who get tortured over the next couple generations will be saying the same thing. And nobody will listen.
