Two police officers arrested on sex abuse charges (http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/newyork/ny-bc-ny--officersarrested1120nov20,0,4957951.story?coll=ny-region-apnewyork)

Uniformed officers Charles McGeean, 37, and Fernand Clerge, 38, stopped
the 35-year-old woman's car at about 3:10 a.m. in the Bushwick section
and accompanied her to her apartment, according to police spokeswoman
Sgt. Geraldine Falcon.
The woman called 911 at 4:49 a.m. to report that they had sexually abused her there, police said.

Am I the only one who finds this story fishy? If
you just wanted to rape someone, you could do that anywhere. Why go to
their apartment? Unless you were invited.

These
two probably pulled over a hottie, she says "I live down the block,
lets work something out" and now their careers are ruined and the city
will pay millions in damages. Am I wrong?]

This is definitely NOT how it happens in the pornos.

Fine, Moe. You're right. I could have said that better. But You just
dont think of someone being raped at their own apartment. Unless its
date rape, in which case they were invited.
Wasnt there a similar story with a woman from the Bronx last year saying she was sexually assaulted by Firemen at a Firehouse on SI? She turned out to be a woman craving some fireman mule and the charges were dropped
O and A... PARTY ROCK!!!!!

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember a porno by Seymor Butts where
some cute blond girl went unannounced to a firehouse and blew a
fireman. That guy was canned by the Fire Dept.
According to a reliable source (my wife who is a cop) the story seems incomplete and fishy but getting a little action on the side certainely is not unheard of so to sum up who knows?

No you arent the only one who finds the story...well, lacking in truths.

One of the cop's lawyers is saying that his client and the woman had had a "prior relationship". Not to jump the gun on what that relationship was/is, but the initial story that she was pulled over by 2 strange cops who followed her univited to her home is certainly suspect.

Now, if it's proven that these guys actually had (even consensual)sex with her while on duty, they stand to lose their jobs for dereliction of duty.

Of course, if they actually commited rape on or off duty, they should be thrown in jail with no pity. BUT, let's just remember that cops are easy targets for false charges like these, and hungry d.a.'s looking to make a career will jump at the chance to prosecute a cop.

That said, in my 15 years in law enforcement, I'd say less than 10 percent of complaints initially reported to me as rape, or even sex abuse, actually panned out to be true.

unless there's some of these guys sperm there or there are witnesses that seen the police entering or leaving the apt then it sounds like a he said/she said. it seems like an awful lot of charges and why would they suspend them right away?

When cops get arrested, they get suspended. Thats just how it goes. Even cops are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

They should have learned a lesson from the case of Officer Mike Tyson.

Hey Chris, what happens if they turn out to be innocent of rape, but
the trial shows they did have sex on duty? And do they still get paid
while suspended? Trials can take years.

Yeah it definetly doesnt seem like rape but clearly they used poor judgement and for that they should be fired and hit with some derilection of duty charge if thats possible.

Police officers are getting enough of a bad name and this crap needs to be handled swiftly and harshly.

Well I suppose the press will shift its 'under the microscope' attention from the FDNY back to the NYPD like the good ole days (pre-9/11). If we can forgive a fucking president for indiscretions lets forgive some cops, IF, this proves to not be a rape, but rather a case of conscenting sex. All people fuck up. It is that easy.

Its not that easy though.

I mean they are police officers and should be out doing their job.

I wouldnt have a problem with it if they used the influence of their badge off duty but to do this while they should be working is dumb.

Its not like they're tow truck drivers or toll collectors who can " afford " to miss some work time.

Pending a departmental hearing, they are more than likely still getting paid while on suspension, but they have no shields or guns. If they are found guilty of rape, of course, they will be fired. If they are found to have been having consensual sex while ON DUTY, they will be disciplined by the department; the rules say termination, but depending on their past performance it could be a further suspension, time off the streets (without gun/badge), or salary-based punishment.

Any discipline by the department will be as a result of an internal department investigation, and/or trial, which usually occurs after any criminal proceedings, but not always. There have been instances where the department finds the individual guilty of a crime and fires him, only to have him win in court, and then have to sue to get his job back.

Dereliction of duty, even calling in sick when youre not actually sick, is a serious infraction in the department's eyes. If these cops even only had coffee in her apartment, they will be punished.

Reporting a false crime is also a crime...but sadly hardly ever pursued.
