He's much too good of a filmmaker to turn himself into a one-trick pony like he has. I hope he finally ditches the twist thing.

the only good thing about unbreakable was the trailer for it

they got me wanting to see how a whole train of people are messed up or dead and he doesn't have a scratch on him

but the whole comic book angle sucked balls

i agree with the train wreck trailer angle only thing is the biggest train wreck was the movie itself

Not only is this movie promising a twist, they're promising TWO
twists. Let me spoil the first one out of revenge for sitting
thru the Village. She's a fucking mermaid.

For those who go and see this, the twist will be that Shymalan conned you into paying to see yet ANOTHER one of his shitty movies.

Gimmicks are Shyamalan's game, and for whatever money-driven reason, the press keeps fondling his
balls. He hasn't made a decent movie since 6th Sense, which was enjoyable the first time in theaters; not
knowing his style or anything about the ending. But even that wasn't breaking much new ground and he
certainly hasn't since.

I think he could be a really good director with the right script and he's certainly in a power position to do it,
but the ability to keep making these personally-written films will dissipate if he doesn't improve from
hackneyed stories tied up in a gimmick ending that is either predictable, boring, or both.

The twist is, there is no twist. Genius! It's just an underwater romantic comedy starring Daryl Hannah and Eugene Levy.

Like suggums said, this guy needs to accept that he can't write for shit and just direct other people's scripts.

His movies are awful to say the least. Sixth Sense was okay in terms of the story and structure to it, though none of his movies since then have thrilled me at all. I was very annoyed by Unbreakable, and Signs was just a mess of a movie. The Village never interested me even slightly, especially since that no talent expressionless moron Joaquin Phoenix was in it. I saw the commercial for this while waiting for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to start. Pretty much the whole theatre let out a groan when the commercial ended and we saw who the director was. Reefy's website...Check out The Ron and Fez Show Logs...UPDATED!!!!!Right now you could care less about me... but soon enough you will care, by the time I'm done

He's actually one of the most down to earth guys you would ever meet (his wife was in college with my brother, went out to dinner once with the 2 of them). With all the truely shitty directors out there right now (Jerry Bruckheimer, Jon Favreau, Spike Lee, Uwe Boll, christ I could make that list about 20 long) I dont see why so much hate. Yes the formulaic process of the last few movies is admittedly annoying but I do think he does a good job building atmosphere. Then again he's a local and tends to make most of his movies based around the Philadelphia/South Jersey area, which I suppose skews my viewpoint. Loved Unbreakable.

The second twist is that she's a fairy tale character trying to get back to her home world. I doubt that either the mermaid or the fairy tale thing are really supposed to be twists since they are both listed in the IMDB synopsis. Hopefully there aren't any further twists, and these two things won't really be treated like twists, just part of the story.
Unbreakable wasn't a terrible film, but I remember watching it and thinking that it must be about 4 hours long. I was a bit surprised it was only half that, because it just moved SO. FUCKING. SLOW.

The only thing that bothers me about his movies is all the hate that I hear about the previous one whenever a new one is on its way. So please, all the haters, do not go see Lady In The Water, so I won't have to hear all the whining about it when his next movie comes out.
