......listening to other diabetics on the phone is just as annoying as a nagging mother.

Every diabetic is different, you just follow rules of thumb.

(Connor: Basiclly the rule of thumb here is…
Woman: Wait, rule of thumb? In the early 1900’s it was legal for men to beat their wives, as long as they used a stick no wider than their thumb.
Connor: Can’t do much damage with that then can we? Perhaps it shoulda’ been the rule of wrist.)

What works for one person may or may not work for someone else.

And for the love of god, alcohol lowers your bloodsugar. yes, lowers. "but alcohol is a sugar, it's made from sugar". ugh, shut up moron callers. Alcohol is a POISON. Thusly your liver reacts to it for what it is... A POISON. Your liver will trigger your body to stop producing or storing glucegen in order for it to get rid of the toxin asap. Thusly, if you are diabetic, it is perfectly safe for you to drink...in moderation, after a good meal, and after you figure out how your body responds to booze. Basically what i just said:

http://www.diabetes.org/type-1-diabetes/alcohol.jsp

I feel much better after bitching. thank you.

I hail inhalable insulin as soon as i can get my hands on some more.

Check this out, might be a breakthrough for Alzheimer's disease sufferers, and it's possible that Alzheimer's could be a form of diabetes. Fresh off the presses!

Diabetics cured by stem-cell treatment (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article1637528.ece)

Diabetics using stem-cell therapy have been able to stop taking insulin injections for the first time, after their bodies started to produce the hormone naturally again.

In a breakthrough trial, 15 young patients with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes were given drugs to suppress their immune systems followed by transfusions of stem cells drawn from their own blood.

This is follow up to an old story I posted somewhere and cant find. They cured diabetes in mice a few months back with this therapy, now the human trials have been successful as well.

Oh, and if you're wondering. Yes, George Bush said yesterday he will veto the Stem Cell bill passed by congress, since this stuff is obviously going nowhere. But that wont affect the availability of these treatments, it just prevented a US company from doing this years ago and reaping the financial rewards.
