I'm looking to plan a vacation to the Caribbean and want to do one of those all inclusive deals. We still haven't picked an island yet but Antigua seems to be the cheapest and nicest so far. But still not sure.. just as long as there's clear blue water and umbrella drinks.

Anyone have any good websites for deals or advice on where to go? I've been using expedia, travelocity and the like. Also found resortvacationsto go.com and travel by jen.com

I've been usuing tripadvisor.com too for guidance and going by pics that vactioners took it seems the Breezes resorts are totally ghetto. Anyone know if Sandals resorts are truly for couples only?

Thanks.

Word.

I just went to Sandals Montego Bay (Jamaica) in September and got married. It was the most relaxing and fun time I've ever had. From what I've heard and read all of the Sandals resorts are top notch. I guess where you decide to go depends on how you want to spend your free time. We wanted to swim and drink, so that was not a problem. They also had some extraciricular stuff included, like tubing (sitting in a tube and getting dragged around by a speed boat on the ocean), snorkeling and a crash-course in scuba diving.

Here's the Sandals Montego Bay website. You can check out the rest of Sandals from there, too.

I should have clarified who is going...it's me and my (heterosexual) girlfriend. Thats why i asked if Sandals' were couples only. We don't want to be stuck in a place with newlyweds. But it does look sooo nice there. All we really want to do is lay on a beautiful beach, swim, drink and eat. I could care less about sight seeing.

Tripadvisor seems to have negative reviews for everything. Jeff and I are going to Breezes in the Bahamas for our honeymoon, all-inclusive. The reviews on tripadvisor are bad, but my sister was on the beach by there and said the resort looked fine.

ah, crap. Just rechecked the tripadvisor ratings for Breezes bahamas and someone has PHOTOs of their room posted. yickkkkkk. Hopefully if we get a bad room and I bitch enough they'll switch us to a nicer one

Let me put it this way: my brothers came to our wedding and shared a room without any hassle or strange looks. If you want to be left alone then I'd say it's perfect. If you're looking to hook up, then I'd steer clear of Sandals. That's what Hedonism is for.
It's the week of April 1st. As long as I get lots of free booze and access to beach/pool, I should be fine!

For my 30th, a friend and I went to Club Med - Cancun. Had a blast, lots of singles. I think they may have one in Antigua.

For couples you need to do the all inclusive clubs named Secrets. Very expensive, but in-fucking-credible. For Snoogans, look up Viking Tours.

I've been to two all-inclusives.

1. The Tamarin (sp?) in Aruba. Went there for a vacay 2 years ago and loved it. It wasn't expensive at all, but was pretty nice. The best part was the rooms were all within 15 feet of the beach -- we walked out of our patio right onto the beach. There wasn't much in the way on "entertainment" but we liked it that way. The food was OK -- the buffet was pretty blah, but the restaurants for dinner weren't bad. You could go to the resort next door, so there was more to do. The second best part was that it wasn't that crowded. A few kids and families, but mostly couples. It was a slow time of year, so maybe that's why it wasn't too crowded. The weather in Aruba was also great -- really hot, but steady breezes. Real close to the equator.

2. Sunspree- The Beach in the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) - Went there with work a few weeks ago (I know, rough life). The place was awesome -- really upscale. I wouldn't have been able to afford it if I paid. The food and drink were great. Lots to do (nightclub, casino, gym, "activities", etc). It was bigger than the other place which meant more people and we had a long walk to the beach. I would recommend it, though.

I'm picking a place now for my honeymoon in June. Hope more people will have recommendations. All my travel successes have come from recommendations...
