I love Iggy Pop but for some reason I can't stand his song "Cold Metal" I always cringe and turn it off.

I keep trying to think of a song I hate, from an artist I love (and a song I love, from an artist I hate [ie... the opposite of this thread]), but I just keep thinking of stuff I love. I guess that's a good thing.

Both threads have been good for me, though. I've been digging up stuff I haven't listened to in a while... and really digging it!

I was flipping throught some radio stations the other day and I came across " Rozxanne " by The Police and realized that this is probably my least favorite song by them ( of the one that were commercially released ).

What song(s) by a group or an artist that you normally like do you hate/dislike ?

"Veronica" by Elvis Costello and the lily-livered Beatle. Such a mushy, sentimental song on a bitter, funny record.

I disliked it so much (and I'm so OLD) I recorded over it with silence on my tape of Spike.

i cant pick a certain one but i can tell you that there is at least 1 song on every single marilyn manson cd that has a lyric so bad in it that i cant ever listn to that song again. one that comes to mind from the golden age of grotesque is the lyric ''i am the church you are the steeple when we fuck were all gods people'' i dont know the name of the song but its soooooo gay i cant even listen to the song. at least one per album.

I disagree. Veronica is an incredibly bitter and jaded song.

From the Zooropa album. THe whole album is trash, and so was Achtung Baby before that.

But the video is horrid. Watching Edge get his face mushed by people's feet while Bono sings in his ear is just a nightmare.

It's come up multiple times in various incarnations. This particular thread is over two years old, though. It's a true WhistlePig original!

Alright, this one may just win "worst song by the best band"

Harlem Shuffle by the Rolling Stones.

right?

I don't hate it, but I never really understood all the fuss over Talking Heads' cover of "Take Me to the River." For such a great band, why is that, of all songs, the one I hear the most on the radio?

The sad thing is, they were a perfectly serviceable Native Tongues-esque hip-hop group when they showed about a decade ago. They and another group called Slum Village showed up at the same time, and they were hyped as the new De La Soul/Tribe Called Quest, and at the time you could definitely see that. Very "organic," funky hip-hop that focused on the genres fundamentals, plus they used a kickass live band as opposed to just DJ's. Their first few singles were pretty awesome, but everything since then has basically sucked super hard donkey cock. Best of all? No fuckin' Fergie.

Every Breath You Take
by The Police.

Thank God for iTunes. I can just uncheck that song while loading up the Synchronicity album onto my iPod. It doesn't even fit on the album. Synchronicity just flows so much better without it on the tracklist.

I love The Stranglers, but can't stand the song "Peaches". I'm actually embarrassed when I hear it, that such a lousy song could have been done by such a great band.

"I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. I recently picked up his greatest hits cd and when I heard that song it took me back to my days as a waiter at the Houston Country Club when every wedding band would play it.

Man I hated that song.

OK, I'll admit it, I love Amy Winehouse musically. On a media/personal level though, totally agree with everything said here on the board in other threads. A drugged out mess.

So on that note, I hate the song Rehab. The rest of the album's really good. I was never a big fan of that song in particular, and was never sure why that one was released as a single. Unless there was some brilliant Marketing Manager who knew what a mess she is even before the big media hoopla, and knew it would accentuate the attention to her, drive album sales, etc.

The fact that this song is overplayed now, doesn't help.
