I think we're on a plan of some sort. Like we pay the same price all year even when we're hardly using gas, but it evens out in the winter when we use more. Our plan only went up a few dollars. Hope this works out all winter.

i own a condo and I pay $178 a month for what's called "condo
association fees." This includes maintenence, snow removal,
keeping of the grounds, water, AND heat.....the past two months they've
added a "utility surcharge" which is $130...and EXTRA $130 just
for heat...it's ridiculous

I heat with oil, use a budget plan (10 payments/yr) and have a "capped" price about 50% higher than last year. Given rising global demand (China and India) for energy this is not a problem that will ultimately go away, although it will abate for temporary periods.

Global warming doesn't sound so bad now, eh?

yep, my landlord just left a note saying my rent was going up again because of the rising cost of oil/gas. i'm just paying way too much for the crappy place I'm in now.

I don't even turn my heat on unless it's absolutely freezing out. Walking around in sweats is better than paying these prices. We need more consumer outrage about prices. The government is basically ignoring this problem.

Gasoline is back up to $2.15 already. The oil companies want us to conserve. Why? Because they don't have anything else to sell us. If we conserve then the supply goes up and demand goes down and price should go down. DON'T COUNT ON THAT!!!

Each gallon of gasoline costs an extra 44 cents due to state and federal taxes. Use that money to develop new, RENEWABLE energy sources. I hope I live to see the day when OPEC is begging us to buy their oil.

Oil and transportation companies should be Utilities, not for profit corporations.

The Department of Energy is a Cluster F'ck. In their opinion, we should just accept this situation. Money you and I don't have ends up going to the oil companies. These pussies in Washington have to start making some hard, politically-unpopular decisions that are in the long term benefit of this country.

All utilities are wrapped in my rent, and the rent only goes up 4% a year. I've been in my large 2 bedroom so long now that I am paying about $200 less than what that 1 bedrooms go for in the building. Shit like this scares me off of taking the plunge and owning. Well...that and the fact that I live in Arlington and I have no money.
I'd rather have hope in my soul than soap in my hole...

Hey Bobo, I got a shock in my utility bill this month also, then I took a real close look, and the bill was estimated. Since last year I have taken some energy saving measures in my house and they estimated December way too high. We'll pay it, and when the meter is actually read, we'll end up with a credit. My meter is in the basement and we have to be home for it to be read.

Our bill, (natural gas) went up 2.5 times from this time last year. The cost of gas went way up, but the temp. is much colder this year than it was at this time last year. It's a double whammy. We're keeping our temp at 66 or 67 in the middle of the day, and 64 at night.

I keep the heat off for the most part. I'll turn it on to get a chill out or before I shower. I bought 100 gallons of oil the other day for like $225.
