This thing is fucking LONG. I'm almost through one page and for all the trashing of him they're doing, they've only made one specific accusation and no evidence to back it up yet. I'll try to get through this, but HOLY FUCK.
He could have just done the Hunter Thompson gimmick in Fear and Loathing of "Only a maniac would write this and say its all true" which distanced him from having the back up what he spoke of, but strangely that title is still listed in the non-fiction category. I actually bought the book after hearing him on Ron and Fez, but now I'll think twice about buying My Friend Leonard. For what it's worth, I've read a few drug manuscripts, and I had my hunches this was laced with generous heaps of bullshit from the getgo, but I treated it as a work of fiction and enjoyed the read, its an engaging style of writing.

I think he was one of the best guests they have had at XM. It certainly sticks out in my memory as a great interview and It particularly struck me the way Ron just seemed like he was in awe of the guy. Interviews like that are rare.
Calling into question, if he'd exagerrate(at best) or lie(at worst) about his life of crime, how can you take any of the other wild tales he claims as fact or at face value?

In Frey's defense, the Smoking Gun never tried to prove that Frey did not have a drug problem, and even went out of the way to say that they weren't going to even contest that he spent time in a rehab facility. So he still may have recovered his own way from a major drug problem. In fact, there's still nothing to disprove that.
the book 'The Amityville Horror' came out as non-fiction and may well still be there; sadly the book describes events that took places in the house that don't exist, some who dug a little found out way back. JKF's book Profiles in Courage wasnt written by him, there's a list out there of famous authors who never wrote their respective books.

I'm sorry, I didn't see in either article where he said he wanted it posted as fiction. did I miss it?

writing under a pseudonym or having a ghost writer is a lot different than this case. this was supposed to detail a mans actual life and struggles....all that could be documented. So many people read this and it affected a heck of a lot more people than people who bought houses that families were murdered in

With the Amityville horror, yeah, terrible things did take place in the house, but in the end it was a thriller, gore, suspenseful work of fiction. A pig with red eyes? I truly find a lot of what Frey said a lot more believable than the pig story

thats just my point....its kind of apples and oranges a bit....not entirely....but enough to make a case that it doesnt belong as a comparison really

How stupid is this guy in actuality? did he really think eventually in this day and age with all the media snooping for stories and stuff, that eventually no one would check out his claims?

Much easier to find public information on an arrest than a demonic pig

Oprah orchestrated the whole thing with her fat evil. She propped this thing up as a TRUE STORY then tears him down when she's caught. And the question is: WHO CARES if its true or not, the point is in the story you weak-minded sheep! Books are NEVER 100% truth, its subjective. People still think religious books are literal, so I guess if something is written, it MUST be true...

These endless public executions by television celebrities, deciding on eachothers royal fates, and we just pony up all kinds of cash for this moralistic, self-help tripe. Makes me wanna puke like Earl and Fezzy watching ass-sausage video!

Oprah sucks
