Most hated President?

In our lifetime it is probably GW Bush. More than half the country disapproves his job performance from Iraq, to the economy and gas prices. Most of Europe has an unfavorable opinion of him. The Muslim world doesnt like him either. Is there a president that is just as hated or more hated than him?

Some of that will fade over time. He's certainly my most hated President (Although hate would be too strong a word) but in the time I've been politically aware only Clinton and Bush have been President. To say there is a glaring contrast is an understatement.<br />

<p>I'm with Booster. You could pick any president around the Civil War
era, but Lincoln will stand out since the war happened on his watch
(despite him doing everything he could to avoid it) </p><p>However
much Nixon, Bush, Carter are/were dispised by their political enemies,
you cant compare to what was going on during the Civil War. Fistfights
broke out in the House of Representatives, one member was shot by
another congressman, and the country descended into war with itself.
What goes on now is thumb wrestling compared to that. </p><p>And
BTW-Most of it is just for show, anyway. You know, when the camera's
are rolling. At night they all hang out at the Palm and laugh about all
the crap they sold us that day. <br />

I
will grant you that Carter is a wonderfully nice man, and hard to
dislike personally. But when he refused to back the Shah of Iran
(because the Shah wasn't very nice or very democratic) the Shah was
overthrown and the religious fundamentalists took over. And we've been
dealing with the fallout of that in the region ever since. That's not
to say he's to blame for all the crap thats going on there now, because
way too much has happened since, but it traces back to that as far as
I'm concerned. <br />
