Why is it that you will see Joe Torre wearing a Yankees uniform but you wont see Bill Parcells wearing a football jersey shoulder pads, and a football helmet, or Pat Riley wearing a Heat uniform. Is it that because baseball managers are allowed to enter the field of play

On the real, I think it has something to do with marketing and
endorsement deals. As I sit here writing this, however, I cannot
imagine what that something could possibly be, but I remember hearing
that at some point in time. Or it might just be that they don't want
chaw juice on their Bruno Magli's.

Is it that because baseball managers are allowed to enter the field of play                                                        it goes back to the days of the player/manager. since everyone who was eligible to play had to be in uniform so did the managers since in the old days they played as well. its an outdated custom. but baseball is one of the slowest in changing their customs.

A baseball uniform is more condusive to being worn by a manager than basketball, hockey or football because there aren't any pads and it covers every part of their typically out of shape bodies.  I don't know, it just feels right that a baseball manager wears the uniform.  Anyone in the dugout not wearing one looks totally out of place.  Generals wear uniforms, dammit!But that said, I wish football coaches went back to wearing suits.  It always looked so badass.  They look like a bunch of pep squad feebs these days.

A friend of mine at work said today that apparently the NFL effectively banned coaches from wearing suits.Yeah, it didn't make any sense to me either.

They banned the suits because of assinine merchandising. They want people to buy the coach's polos from the NFL shops.
