Looking for love in all the wrong places...

Ugh. This is awful.

Where can you go to meet people where you fall into these categories...

1) You're still a bit shy around the opposite sex.

2) You are no longer in high school or college.

3) Meeting someone via the net has led to some really bad experiences.

4) The bar scene is horrible, especially when you're the only single person among your friends.

5) There are no prospects at work.

I've been trying to meet new people no matter what, but I'm still new at this "mingling" thing.

Any suggestions?

tenbatsuzen, i really don't think there's anywhere else to look.

unless you're waiting for your goddess/prince to fall down from the sky and onto your lap, you have to make an effort to try and meet other people.

if the bar scene is horrible, try and frequent some different bars.

i'm a shy person too, but i'm still able to go up to people and introduce myself because i'm not afraid of the responses i might get.

maybe you should try to be a bit more spontaneous.

go up to people and tell them to, "get their balls out."

that's what i've been doing lately.

climbing. ExtraVertical on
63rd and Broadway is a good
place to meet people.

Become a stand-up comedian. You don't really need much talent or good looks to be a hack, just some balls. And comedians get groupies.

Target shy and less attractive women. Shy and unnattractive guys often have standards that are to high. You'll find gems at your level. Any girl that is hot and willing to come to you, can do alot better.

Get over your shyness. I'm incredibly introverted but at times I've had moments of pure confidence when talking to girls. I forced myself. Try alcohol. It's all about confidence.

Get out there and do more things that you enjoy. If you like reading, join one of those groups that reads the same book and talks about it. If you like rock climbing, rock climb more. You will be happy in that environment and more attractive to women that way. And they will have similar interests. And, worst case, you have some fun on your own.
