<p>if this is an easy problem don't beat me up but when i try to listen to radio streams from the net it just says connecting and never does, also on yahoo videos they dont play just refreshes every second does anyone have any possible reasons for this?</p>

could be a firewall issue. your router may not be letting traffic through<br /><p> </p>

Make sure you have the latest version of whatever player it's trying to use. If it's trying to use Windows Media Player, for example, go to Microsoft and get the latest version.

I had a problem awhile ago where Quicktime and Windows Media Player were set to weird default player settings and being very gay in general.
Check what player you have set as default to playing all your different kinds of files.
