<p>Why do alot of the "heroes" start out as baddies???</p><p>Chuck in "Return of the Dragon"</p><p>Van Damme in "No Retreat No Surrender"</p><p>Jet Li in "Lethal Weapon IV"</p><p>(Cynthia Rothrock is famous for the "scorpion kick" and having huge boobs )</p>

<p>I was surprised the boys hadn't heard of Cynthia Rothrock yesterday. Then again... I would have no clue about her, if I hadn't been friends with a Rothrock fanatic several years ago.</p><p><img height="455" src="http://pailum.org/images/cynthia.jpg" width="360" border="0" /></p>

<p>Jet Li's first movie wasn't Lethal Weapon, just his first to a wide US audience. It is, I think, his first movie as a villain, as he is always the hero. The only other time I think he's been a villain was One, where he managed to be hero and villain in the same flick. </p><p>To answer the question, probably because these people became famous for martial arts, or looking like they do martial arts. Having no proven acting skills or background, you stick them in a film as the heavy, or fighting opponent. Which martial arts movies are good for.</p>

Just to get it off my chest, I think Master Po putting Jackie Chan and Jet Li ahead of Bruce Lee in his list of martial arts movie stars is like putting a utility player in the Hall of Fame.
Also, I've never considered Chuck Norris a martial artist. He was a decent sport fighter back in the day when "full contact Karate" was in its infancy, but I think he'd get his clock cleaned by any of today's fighters.

He said he liked their movies better, because they had more action per scene. Bruce Lee films were too "talky" in his opinion.

But isn't that more realistic. You're supposed to train your skills to use only when talking can't keep you out of a fight. That's the 1st thing they taught us in Tae Kwon Do. NOT to go all "Movie Crazy" on our friends just because we were learning fighting skills. You respect the knowledge and power you're learning.

I think he looks at martial arts movies like porn. It doesn't have to be realistic. It just needs to have maximum sex... uh, I mean fighting.
