Thanks Sheepy.  It used to be an understone to the show were the boys were making a joke about society with the help of liberal northeast listeners.Now the southern boys who think they're in on the joke are making the boys look bad and won't encourage phone calls from the "best listeners in radio" which the show needs.It's also overdone and disgusting to listen to.  Poor Earl shouldn't take this much heat even if no one intends any harm.

Yea, even I am sick of the overuse of the N word.  When you use it ALL the time, it loses it's shock value.  It can be part of a funny bit every now and then and when the boys are using race as a joke.  Just calling in screaming nigger isn't funny.

The overdone racist calls have become the one thing that really make me want to tune away - if it was any other show than R&F, I would, but I am always interested in seeing how they turn it around. And I know I'm a broken record, but come on - it's not just The South - one of the "N" callers yesterday had no desernable accent whatsoever, and plenty of times I've heard real, ugly racism spewed from The Liberal North. People need to get over whatever superiority they think they have because of geography - especially with racism in this country. When they were in DC they sometimes actually had to reach to find an excuse to use the "Ani Drop." Most of the local shows on WJFK (Junkies, Hideout, D&M) has a lot of people from The Community call in (very funny shout out last week, btw, on Don and Mike when Mike broke into the "Eastern Motors" commercial). With R&F and the Ani drop, for awhile it was used so infrequently I had wondered if it even existed. Right on Curtoid. Yesterday was the first time I actually got pissed at the callers. Seems like one after another - copycat morons who really think they are being funny and shocking. blah - fucking stupid.

The Ani Defranco joke is only funny when someone says a word like "Tigger" and they use the song.  Other than that, I don't think it's funny.

Congress shall make no law =Well we can stop there, as there are hundreds of laws telling us what we can and can't say in certain situations/settings; ditto with the 'it's my body I can do whatever I want to/with it' thing.

Ill add my two cents in here.I personally think racism is one of the stupidest thought processes in the human brain.I'm also not a preacher, so I don't push my beliefs/values on other people.I'm not above finding humour in racism. If I were, I would have never started listeng to O&A, thus I would have never gotten XM and discovered Ron & Fez.The thing of it for me is, these callers are using the word with no real attempt at humour or relevance.Do they really like Ani DiFranco and Randy Newman that much????It's like the Howard Stern show, condenced into a 15 second phonecall.Ponderous, man. F' ing ponderous.

until they get an audience that shares their sarcasm and wit it wont hit its stride.

notice the lack of 'comedy pyramids' or long running paul o bits?

its because the callers they are getting cant contribute anything worth while.
