Being on the lookout for new ways to burn off brain cells, please share with the group your current alcoholic beverage of choice.

I bring this up because I have just made and totally enjoyed several vodka martinis featuring olives stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese. Unfuckingbelievable taste.

So, fess up - what'll you have?

go for a Gibson

Funny you should mention the Gibson. It is "my drink" but with Gin - the delicious and devastating Bombay Sapphire Gibson with extra onions. Spectacular.

As far as the dirty martini, I never really cottoned to them. I get the taste of the olive from the olive itself - not the juice. The juice only serves to distract from the vodka used.

Once in while, I'll make a Pepperotini--a vodka martini with pepperocini garnish and juice. The hotter the pepperocini the better.

I agree with Tall James on the Sapphire. I used to love Tanquerey Malacca but I can't find it anymore.

Ommegang Abbey Ale from Cooperstown, NY (their Rare Vos is also a winner) is wonderful and much cheaper than it's Belgian counterparts.

I have been drinking red wine lately, too. Beaujolais and Pinot Noir most recently.

I'm not a bad person, I just do bad things.

As for myself, I'm not much of a social drinker I guess. I never understood the appeal of mixed drinks that much. I either don't drink while I'm out or want to get a buzz on when I know I'm not driving anywhere.

So with that in mind, when I can and want to get drunk I want to just do the job, and straight whiskey does the trick nicely. I was just at a wedding, and I got fucking SEVERELY lost on the way. I missed the ceremony and showed up just in time for the people I work with who were also invited to laugh at me. I walked right up to the open bar and got 2 double shots of Maker's Mark whiskey. Now THAT takes the moterfucking edge RIGHT off. Then I finished with a beer and drank soda the rest of the night. I was sober as a church mouse when I left a few hours later.

Straight liquor all the way, and an occasional beer.
