In advance of March 17th

<p>When one considers the importance of the day and how many people like to attach themselves to the background of the day, one would think most, or all, of those people would have at least learned that March 17th is St. Pa<strong>dd</strong>y's Day.</p><p>I have no idea how 'Pa<strong>tt</strong>y's', or worse 'Pa<strong>tties</strong>', ever made it into the spelling, but I've even seen a guy that makes a living from covering U2 songs not know it, twice.</p><p>&quot;Pa<strong>dd</strong>y&quot; comes from St. Padraig. There's a thing about St. Patrick <a href="http://www.theologic.com/oflweb/secular/stpat.htm" target="_blank" title="pat's">here</a>.</p>

Different cultures I guess.</p><p> <br />Anyone with any Irish in them would know that Paddy with two T's is more offensive than D's. If you're going to use a derogatory term like 'Paddy', at least degrade with some sense of grammar.</p><p> And yes, a ton of 'Irish' bars in NY advertise March 17th as Patty's Day. Well, they're not Irish, are they?<br /></p>
