I AM NOT A FAN!!!!!!!!!If ESD were merely cringe-inducing with his antics, so be it, but he actually pisses me off. Everything goes too far, or not far enough. He always sounds like he's lying, even if what he is saying is true. I have no patience for goofy, hacky, wise-asses. I find myself listening less and less to avoid hearing him, and in the process missing the non-ESD focused parts of the show that I truly love.

listen, i love east side dave (or as i call him, funniest cartoon ever dave, but i kind of love him in the way i loved wonderboy, in that ron would rip this shit out of him and he was a great foil.  but i will say, FCE Dave makes me laugh on his own, whether it be roberto or a natural bit or whatever, which Wonderboy never did for me.  plus FCE Dave was the first person to ever respond to me on this board, so i have a special place in my...uh...heart ... for him.

I have to agree...I am not arguing the fact that Dave seems like a really good guy, and its cool that a member of the board got a job with the show, but his act has gotten real old lately...It's embarassing when he just makes up shit to try to fit into the conversation, then has nothing to back it up...I saw the Dilette on Friday's show, and it was mostly about Dave, and I didn't even listen..It's the first show I've missed since the end of 2003...Ron and Fez "put over" Harry when he was on WJFK for a few days, and at the beginning of being on XM, and are doing the same with Dave...I just hope he can handle being on his own when he doesn't have the guys backing him up...I'm really rooting for Dave...I just wish he would try to be himself more.

Wow I can't believe people actually like this guy. When he comes in the studio he does not stop talking and interupting and ends up steping all over the flow of the show. Even fans of this guy have got to acknowledge that there is a wierd dynamic going on when East side Dave enters the studio Fez seems to get quite. I don't know if he's somehow intimidated by him or just drowned out by his constant chatter.

I like dave and all but he's gettin me a little worried... his stories sound like my night of the April 1st bar night... and the few weeks before where I got completely piss drunk at my buddys house, hit on his wife a lil bit, and played a drinking card game with jack and tequilla shots... I don't really remember much of it at all.... but I did see pictures that really freaked me out. They thought I was dead when I passed out and off the barstool onto the floor but proceeded to just write all over me in perm. marker and take pictures...good times good times...  Dave, relax a little bit so we can enjoy more of the fun Dave. If it makes you feel any better it really did take me 2 weeks to remember meeting Pat from Moonachie on the 4/1 party.... yeah that was odd...

i have said it before i know but, i like dave, i think he is funny, i do laugh at the abuse he takes. i do wish once in a while he was on the giving end and not just taking the pouding.

Dave does need to stop drinking to the point of making a fool of himself. i have been there, and i and know the feeling. i knew i had a problem when i was finishing off a six pack as a drove to work one morning tossing the empties in the back seat. god i was an ass for doing that. but, now i drink once a week, if that, i get a little buzzed and have fun. i have learned to moderate my beer drinking and have cut out the hard stuff all together. ESD Fan here, stumbling to his defense...All just my opinions of course!1. I became a very quiet person in life because I was afraid of repercussions.  I was always on guard and, when I spoke I was very careful - I didn't want to offend anyone.  For me, Dave is an amazingly open person - he makes a ton of mistakes, but just keeps on going.  He doesn't clam up.  He laughs at himself.  He laughs, in fact, with joy.  Which is how it should be.  The yellow cake debacle was a great bit.  It's amazing to me that this is not simply enjoyed...what could be better than someone who thinks that the icing color defines the cake style?  It's conspicuously unimportant, but it's also very human.  I know that I've had weird things like that - things I call "holes" - where I thought the world was flat and it turned out to be...not flat.  I enjoy seeing it in others because it reminds me of me and in seeing Dave just laugh at himself I can see that being wrong or dumb isn't the end of the world and in fact can be a place of laughter. 2. The best thing that Dave does - and it's his "bit" if he has to have one - is he just lets fly whatever it is that comes into his intricately loopy head.  As a listener, I get a lot of pleasure from that - from being exposed to someone's inner workings without a lot of self-censoring (as I said, I've lived a highly censored life).  Think about Earl, who I also like -  he's very guarded - highly self-censored - and is actually interesting for that very reason.   The tension with Earl is "Who is the Real Black Earl?" and you're always waiting for the authentic Earl to secretly shake out in an opinion on this or that - and this is a tension that Ron is constantly touching upon with his regular "Earl, what's your take on this?"  This, also, is why Earl has such difficulty with Dave, always saying that Dave "needs to think before he talks."  Which might be true for a game show contestant or anyone trying to make it big in this mostly ultra-conformist atmosphere of ours - but Earl could do with a little talking before he thinks.  Exposing your vulnerabilities and then tolerating the fact that you have them and aren't perfect (and displaying this in a public forum) is a powerful way to grow - or at least a powerful way to address those very "weaknesses".  (These aren't really weakness, but I will stick to the common expression.)  3.  After the yellow cake incident people started calling in to angrily denouce Dave, calling him an asshole etc..  This is a response akin to smacking your kid for spilling his milk. The emotional reaction doesn't necessarily arise from the emergent stimulus - although that stimulus is certainly touching upon something else.   Being angry at those we feel are stupid should not cause a hitting or hating response. If it does, it's something to look into.  I don't pay strict attention to the people who call in and slam Dave for making errors - but I do notice that they often make mistakes themselves - either in grammar or in fact or just in the way they try to support their reasoning.  I'd make mistakes too if I called the show.  I'd stammer and be stupidly nervous. I'm sure I made a dozen mistakes in this post.  Mistakes don't equal asshole.  Mistakes equals human.  Human equals good.  As Henry Miller used to sign his letters....Always Merry & Bright,Sean

Outstanding points Sleeves, I'm with you 100% -- your analysis of how Dave is Dave, and Earl is Earl, is staggeringly accurate.Dave's ego is, err, I'm not even sure of the word here -- Dave doesn't get mad as he's being torn to shreds by R&F, callers, anyone really (with the exception of wanting Earl's love, heh -- "he just doesn't listen").  Dave goes for the funny almost always, instead of going for hurt or angry or sad while he's being shredded.  I find that endearing and ultimately funny, laugh out loud funny & somehow satisfying. I agree that Earl is guarded to a remarkable degree.  And the inherent tension that Sleeves points out in these two diametrically opposed personas is interesting... If Ron & Fez actually thought this through and decided on precisely Dave because of how his personality relates to Earl... well then... we're all just not worthy & R&F are well beyond just good or great. The interest built by the tension between Earl and Dave's personalities is also a pretty good indication of why Harry was just a terrible fit for the show.  Harry was just a hair away from Earl's personality.And maybe, just maybe, the insight on Dave v Earl will make me possibly enjoy Earl a bit more.  Maybe.

Sleeves and Plethora have some interesting (and accurate, in my opinion) points on the persona of East Side Dave.  I really like him on the show and root for him on a daily basis, but I was shocked when he turned down the hosts for a spot on the show today.  Dave's definitely an "off the cuff" kind of guy and that's what makes him funny, but if he's ever going to have a degree of professionalism he's got to learn to recognize a situation for what it is and think before he speaks.

agree with mikey, but at the same time alot of these dave bashers
haven't heard billy, al, wb, mikey etc. and might not see the angle
that these guys usually play.  i feel in time that more and

Yes, I repeated numerous times...but i didn't get an email or private message saying "if you continue you will be banned." honestly I thought the gag was so funny I kept adding to it and didn't see the "posted" warnings in between my posts until after I was banned. yes because I was too busy posting different pics of chefs and roosters.
