Figured due to the impending "noreaster" set to affect the east coast in a few hours, I'd post a poll AND a forum to share our Noreaster 2006 stories (horror and otherwise). Since it's a weekend, are any of you planning to go skiing? build a snow man? whatever? I'm at home sick anyway, so I'll be watching from my fatty pneumonia-style window.

Currently in nyc, it's 34 degrees, mostly cloudy, with some sun.

The question: within the 5 boroughs of nyc, How bad will it be by the time it's over tomorrow, noon?

It'll be a sigh of relief for Home Depot stockrooms. I went in for something completely snow unrelated and noticed that they made sure to take out all of the shovels and snowblowers that didn't sell over the season. Everything was all disheveled and dust covered, with mongrels everywhere picking through them. Its now snowing quite heavily around the Plainfield area.

I just spent 2 hours shoveling over 2 feet of the shit. And it's still coming down. Haven't seen a plow yet so I can't even dig out the cars!

Am I the only one, or do you automatically start singing Christmas carols when you're shoveling snow, even if it's February?

I gotta be at work at 6pm to shovel around the school. It's gonna take me forever to get there. Normally a one hour commute (train, walk).

Snow has pretty much stopped here. Totals are in for NYC

As the snowfall tapered off during the afternoon,
the National Weather Service reported that 24.8 inches had fallen by 1
p.m. in Central Park, the second-highest tally since record-keeping
started in 1869. The record was 26.4 inches in December 1947 and there
was no immediate indication if it would be passed.

i commute from LI to NJ and the ride wasn't that bad. the local roads on LI sucked, as they usually do. they were plowed, but there was alot of ice under the snow and its still there. hopefully the sun will do its part today. the highways were for the most part clear. though there were random spots on the Cross Island and Route 80 that all of a sudden the lane just seemed to end due to snow piles.
