View Full Version : Johnny Grunge Passed Away
From wrestlingobserver.com:

Former ECW star Grunge passes away

Dave@wrestlingobserver.com

Mike "Johnny Grunge" Durham was pronounced dead on arrival at an Atlanta area hospital this morning.

The only available details were he was at a friend's house in Peachtree City, GA, and was gasping for air and rushed to the hospital. The preliminary diagnosis from the hospital is that it was said to have to do with complications from sleep apnea.

Grunge and the late Rocco Rock (Ted Petty), as the tag team of Public Enemy, were the first major stars created by ECW in a program against The Funk Brothers. They became ECW's most popular act, to the point they were subject to a bidding war of sorts between WCW and WWF. However, taken out of the ECW environment, they weren't as successful.

Grunge, whose age is believed to be 39, was said by friends to have never been the same since Petty's death.

Proof/Confirmation that people want you dead?

Will wwe.com do?
Johnny Grunge passes away
Feb. 16, 2006

Mike Durham, known to sports-entertainment fans as Johnny Grunge of Public Enemy, passed away Thursday morning at the age of 39.

Along with partner Rocco Rock, Grunge made a name for himself in ECW in the mid-1990s. Public Enemy was known for their hardcore style, as well as their “Drive-By” finishing maneuver that saw Grunge propel Rock like a cannonball into their opponent, usually placed on top of a table.

Public Enemy held the ECW Tag Team Championship four times, defeating the likes of Tazz, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Mick Foley to capture the gold. They were part of one of the most infamous moments in ECW history as well; after a victory over The Gangstas, Grunge & Rock invited the fans to celebrate with them in the ring, and the weight caused the ring to collapse.

Public Enemy moved on to WCW in 1996, where they defeated Harlem Heat to capture the WCW Tag Team Championship that September. Um, yeah, I know he passed away, I wasn't questioning that. My
question is whether any news source says it has anything to do with
drugs, as another poster insinuated. Nothing I've read even
hinted at anything other than sleep apnea.
