My friend and I were trying to list all the concerts we have seen over the years when I realized that I have a few real clunkers in there. Some of them were work related, but more often than not, they were because of a girl.

Poison/Warrant at Nassau Colliseum in 1990 (may have been early 1991) is at the top of my list. Took a girl, sat in first ten rows had backstage passes (which I refused to use). At least if I got some, it would have made it bearable in hindsight.

(Tie) Warrant w/ Kingdom Come and Winger both at The Channel in Boston 1989. Different girl, but I did get some, hence the second place finish.

Unless you got to bang a supermodel afterwards, anyone who admits to seeing Rick Astley is the automatic winner. Any other ones?

Richard Marx at the Garden States Arts Center.

I must have been 14, but I felt cool because I was going with kids who could drive.

The sad thing is I was really looking forward to this show beacuse Tom Cochran, the guy who sang that "Life is a Highway" song, was opening.

I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

Hall and Oates at Liberty State Park.

I was dating a girl who was into them. She was 16 so I had to get her straight home right after the concert or her father would cut my balls off. So, there was no pay-off to the date either. What a living hell that day was.

Warrant - Great White - Skidrow - Elko, Nevada - summer 2005

Talk about a bunch of old men who think they've still got it!!!!! Me and the ol' lady giggled thru Warrant, actually thought Great White wasn't half bad, and split during the second song Skidrow played.

Gotta say Jack Russel had a lotta balls, after 2 songs he pretty much apologized about the fire and said a prayer for the lost then went on and put on a decent show.

Donnie and Marie Osmond at the Great Frederick Fair back in 1985. The tickets
were free--at least I didn't pay for this debacle!

I would list Jerry Lee Lewis at the Charlestown, WV Racetrack, but he actually put on one hell of a show.

I'd have to say the dozen or so times I had to see Derick St. Holmes (or as we called him, Derick Go Home), when he'd play at the bar where I used to work. If you don't know the name, he's the former voice of Ted Nuggent, and he's an embarrassing pompous ass.

The Wallflowers. I went with this girl who was a big fan of thiers. The night would have completly sucked but Ben Harper was the opening act. I had never heard of him before but instant ly became a fan.

It was a really fun concert. It was a wild stage show and there was a straight laced korean fellow that'd clean up the stage or get him water during the show.

Some of their more obscure songs are really good. Yes - I know - they are a "fake" band - but still the team of boyce & hart really knocked out a lot of great songs for that time.

Without question it has got to be Going to see the Backstreet Boys. They couldn't have sucked more. I was forced to take my young nieces to the show which my aunt had bought tickets for but she couldn't go so I had to go in her place. It was a very painful show, the beer couldn't even numb the pain. I kept checking my watch and could not wait 'till it was over.
