Attack of Shiite Mosque in Iraq [Archive]

"We demand an investigation so that the criminals who did this be punished. If the government fails to do so, then we will take up arms and chase the people behind this attack."

There's something to be said for splitting up a country like Iraq..."Iraq" as we know it today only because of arbritrary borders drawn by departing European colonialists, borders that threw together completely seperate tribes and ethnic groups.

There was also an attempted attack <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/world/13955468.htm" target="_blank">today</a> on an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, and al-Quada claims responsibility.  Both the attack on the mosque and the refinery are in heavy Shiite areas.  They terrorists are attempting to cause instability in the area by inciting sectarian attacks.  What do they hope to gain?  They want to interfere with world commerce.  Why?  We must be doing something that is hurting them (the terrorists) and this is their attempt to draw attention away.

Umm, first they questioned whether civil war in Iraq was a good thing. Then they questioned whether all the violence was made up by the media.Really, if you can't see how it relates to the topic and what's wrong with it, I really don't know what to say.EDIT: I should say that they questioned whether "Civil War" was made up by the media.

I guess its just that to me every political thread derails into an attack of anything conservative. I see very little outrage on this board of slanted garbage on the other end by liberal rags. And to be honest, the article you quoted didnt come up on the hotel computer im using. But if I posted outrage everytime the tabloids to the left printed something assinine, these threads would be twice as long.

I think Fox comes off as being even more absurd becuase they trumpet and beat us over the head as being "fair & balanced" when they're so clearly not.While the slant of other news organizations is pretty obvious, I'll never understand the constant bashing of the BBC.  Their reporting standards and quality and capabilities are so far beyond anyone else's in the world that to discount them as a news source is just flat-out ridiculous.

While I agree Civil war would be a catostrophe in Iraq lets stop throwing boques at the BBC. I didn't see much outrage on this board when half the BBC heirarchy had to resign after lying about that British weapons inspector. Or when CBS ran with a phoney story during the presidential campaign that had to be refuted by a dead man's widow. Yes, it is stupid to back a civil war in Iraq but this board is severely biased. All the news agencies have an agenda and are full of shit at some point.
