I want to spend btwn 2000-2500. I know that the sharp aquos has gotten good reviews but they are very pricey. Also how is that new DLP technology? I know that alot of companies are making HDTV's, some ive never heard of, But I want to get a brand ie a sony, samsung, hitachi.

Kinda OT but If you have a light controlled room and the wallspace, I'd go with an overhead projector. I bought an Infocus 4850 two years ago thinking I'd just use it for movies...now we use it for all TV. Plus, you can get a great projector for around 1500... While people with plasmas and LCDs brag about inches, the projector crowd brags about feet. Of course, the argument can be made regarding picture quality. The key issue is sizing the image for your room. We have a 96" horizontal image but we also sit 15' away.

I also recommend Crutchfield as a place to get expensive AV equipment. They usually have free shipping, 30 day trial periods, and people who actually know their sh1t working there..unlike 99% of stores...

In any case, check out this website: www.avsforum.com Its basically where all those AV geeks in high school went...

I suggest that AVS Forum place as well, it's the best place to go for info.

But when it comes to the TV, are you going to be gaming on it? If so you might want to stay away from the DLPs due to the picture/sound delay a lot of them experience. That's when the sound and the video do not sync up exactly and that causes a lot of problems. DLPs also have those light bulbs inside that you need to replace every few years and they cost a few hundred bucks.

I bought my Sweety a Sharp XR-20X projector. It's a DLP with 2300 ANSI lumens. High Def is AMAZING at 100 inches. Sharp is a workhorse here at my job which is why I chose the brand. $2,000.00 is a great price for 100' HDTV.

Whenever we go into electronics stores, we point & laugh at the TINY 60' plasma screens.

Sanyo is good, as is Sony. Stay away from Epson, they overdrive their machines with the power supply and they burn out sooner. DLP is better than LCD in the long run...

Sweety is so lucky having an AV guy for a boyfriend.

Heh she's lucky anyway!
