<p>It seems a popular passtime for the media to bash Bush. I see Bush bashing going on all over the place, and I am wondering, what is the goal of bashing him? Is the goal to make him look more idiotic to the rest of the observing world? Does the fact that we do it to our own leader weaken the US in its effectiveness at our own security and national interests? <br />Doesnt it really make us, as citizens look like we are in fact the idiots for electing an idiot, if he is indeed an idiot? Do you think its possible that bashing him can hurt us? <br />If we appeared to stand behind our leaders, would it seem to the rest of the world that our leadership is backed up by the whole country and could that help us win the battle with our enemys?</p><p> </p><p> </p>

I should have probably added that I do not necesarily support everything he does, indeed some of the things he does certianly does seem to me to be quite idiotic. My point is how does it appear when it is broadcast to the rest of the world and its impact on others preceptions. Im not saying anyone shouldnt be critical of their leaders when their leaders are in the wrong.

<p> <strong><strong>Its not the media bashing him, its that the culminative
picture of Bush created by looking at the effects of his decisions
clearly shows that his presidency has been a series of cluster fucks.
This is a perfect application for "don't kill the messenger".</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>In
the long run, I do not think that it weakens the US effectiveness
because giving the populace more information about what its gov't is
doing (right or wrong) allows them to make more informed decisions at
the polls. We get new leaders in office, and hopefully a more effective
gov't.</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>I'm not sure how far you want to go with
"stand behind our leaders". This obviously is a very scary issue. Its
the gov't's actions that will determine how we win our battles, not the
appearance of the populace's support. Supporting the wrong policies
results in the gov't doing the wrong actions. History will judge us on
our ACTIONS and OUTCOMES not on our APPEARANCES. <br /></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>US
elections are incredibly complicated as there are many issues that are
on the table. Voting for Bush is often a vote on an issue not on his
intelligence. </strong></strong></p><p>PS I cant remove the bold font for some reason...sorry. </p><strong /><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p>

<p>"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that
we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only
unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American
public." </p><p>-Theodore Roosevelt</p><p>Its already been said, but the public needs to be informed so we can make good decisions on election day.<br /></p>
