Irish music is like nails on a chalkboard to me. It honestly
nauseates me. Maybe it's because I'm not Irish, but I could give
a flying fuck about Donegal, the battles with the English, how much
beer and whiskey you drank, or the "bonnie lass" who broke your
heart.

Shut the fuck up.

Thank God St. Patrick's day only comes once a year.

And while you're at it, stick those bagpipes up your ass.

Simply awful.

I think hearing bagpipes play "Amazing Grce" at a funeral is one of the most emotional things I ever hear.

I can listen to the very slow Irish music sometimes if I'm in the mood. Most of the rest of it kinda sounds the same to me but that might only be because I'm not up on it.

I have no real problem with it.

I know you guys will think I'm exaggerating just to make a point, but I swear to you by all I hold dear that Irish music makes me physically ill. I actually enjoy Irish music. I also like polka too. I have a very eclectic taste when it comes to music.

GVAC, I always dug your opinion, but you really are
coming off as one of those guys that think "the only good music was
from when the Beatles got together to when Led Zep broke
up". Irish music has permeated so much of modern music it's
almost impossible to list. AC/DC is a good example though.

I know, I know........all the old time
"rockers" can't abide by rap. " It's just mary had a little lamb,
with bitches" It just comes off very negative and
narrow.

Are we to assume that you don't like Van Morrison, or Thin Lizzy as well?

This
isn't any kind of personal attack. Not even a little bit. I
just find it so hard to believe people would dismiss an entire genre of
music ( country included.) out of hand. Sure not all of it
is for everyone. But to say it's ALL bad........sounds a little
...........I don't know..........closed minded?
Two Guinness before they hit the stage, thanks for asking.

Grendel, I assure you I'm not close minded at all when it comes to
music. My taste ranges from Classical to Blues to Pop to Soul to
R&B to Jazz to Funk to Folk to Rock to....well, you get the
picture.

And I believe Van (The Man) Morrison is the
greatest white soul singer to ever walk the face of this earth. I
also love U2 as well. It's the old Irish folk tunes that really
turn my stomach for some reason. I'm not dismissing the
musicianship of the genre, I'm just stating how it personally affects
me. It literally makes me ill.

I have no idea why,
it's just the way it is. I'm sure there are some people who see
no merit to 50's Doo Wop, but I can listen to it all day long.

One
of the coolest things about music is how personal it is to
everybody. If Irish music gets you off, more power to you.
Just know I'll never be "converted" and I'll never understand it.

Now let's all put on something we can all agree on and dance the night away!
