I remember him. He was the only newscaster that my folks would watch.

I remember his closing comments after the 6pm news was over on WABC channel 7. "Good luck and be well". RIP Bill

I too grew up with Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby. They would come on right before dinner and right after my Godzilla or Planet of the Apes Marathon that I rushed home from school to see. Godspeed Bill. It's off to that big 4:30 Movie in the sky.

http://www.tv-ark.org.uk/international/video_us_abc/wabc-ewn93synth.rm

I can remember him very well because my mom always watched the local ABC-7 news for as long as I can remember. I even have home movies of me playing and it being on in the background. Weird... its almost like a relative died.

For those of you interested in taking a walk down memory lane, there's a pretty good tribute to Bill on the WABC website:

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news&id=3996447

Man, they've been dropping like flies lately.

Add me to the list of people who grew up watching Bill Beutel do the news.

Adios, Bill.

P.S. - Was Roger Grimsby's tag line "I'm Roger Grimsby, here now the news"?

Seems like his disease must have hit him pretty hard and fast, because it doesnt seem all that long ago that he was on. RIP Bill!

I will laugh at each photoshop post. Mr. Beutel had a great sense of humor. he often poked fun at himself. Near the end of his career, he had slurred speech and problems reading the prompter and would laugh about it.
So, photshop away I say. i would too, but I really know how to.
