The jokes about there only being one Ska song that everybody plays over and over again aside, I like some of what I've heard.

Got the Mighty Mighty Bosstone's "Let's Face It" and thought it was great.

Anyone else into Ska and have any suggestions about some good listening?

I hear the label and jokes too but an not really sure what the hell it even is. Only thing with a horn section I own is a copy of The Specials. Is that SKA?

Yes, I enjoy ska, No, I don't have any suggestions. :-)
Ska varies a lot, but some bands that classify as ska are Sublime, Operation Ivy and the old No Doubt/Gwen Stafani stuff. Smash Mouth is also ska, and they actually have some pretty good sounding stuff.
The only suggestion I could really give you would be for Fishbone, which is a ska-funk-metal fusion. Fishbone is really the only ska band I ever got "into".

HISTORY OF SKA -

Some of Bob Marley's earliest recordings were "ska"

if reggae, rock & roll, jazz & pop had a baby, they would name it - SKA

The Selecter was a great unsung band of the early Ska revival which coincided w/ the emergence of Punk Rock. I saw them at The Bayou in Georgetown and was floored by the energy and the musicianship. Ska was all there was for Jamaican music before Reggae, I remember John Lennon referring to it as "Blue Beat" in a film about the "Same Time In NYC" concerts. Old School Ska is a lotta fun too! I have always loved "The Israelites" by Desmond Dekker & The Aces!

The Selector was one of my faves also. 2 Tone was the label for SKA in the 80's. The English Beat were more SKA than anything else in the beginning. They did an excellent version of "Tears of a Clown".

Look for one of the 2 Tone compilations available like "This are 2 Tone" (above). It has Madness, Specials, Selector, etc.

Great listening on a summer day. Worth it for "Guns of Navarone" alone. Great version of the Specials staple "You're Wondering Now". There may ba a better compilation out by now but I haven't looked into it. Not all of the members are still with us. If they come back on tour, don't miss them.

That's my favorite when the ska band's name is like a real word but with 'ska' put in it somewhere. Let's see, you have the aforementioned SKAtalites, MephiSKApholes, SKAptain and Tenille, SKA and the family SKA, SKAran SKAran, and of course, The SKAs. Classic.
