Why all the hate for Kevin Federline? [Archive]

Kevin Federline came up again on the show today and I must say I am a little disappointed in the boys for continuing to make a joke out of him. I will start off by saying that I understand most of the Ron and Fez audience isn't into rap music at all, I guess that makes me a rare fan. I have been a fan of real Hip Hop for many years. The music that Kevin is making reminds me a lot more of real Hip Hop than a lot of the music on the charts today. Ron did get one thing correct when he talked about Kevin's music sounding very "80's". If anything, Kevin Federline is a renaissance rapper, he is bringing back a wonderful sound that fans of Hip Hop haven't felt since Public Enemy and Biz Markie were around. K fed's first single, Popo Zao, had a very South American fell to it, much like the early works of Boogie Down Productions. How is this a bad thing? Also people keep slamming him for his professional name of "K-Fed". Well why does 50 cent, Nas, Jay Z, etc. etc. all get a pass on renaming themselves and K Fed doesn't? K Fed was on MTVs OverDrive recently and commented he will be working with the hard rock band Lincoln Park on a rap/rock hybrid song. Hopefully this will help him crossover easier working with a know hardcore band.

I'm not trying to defend Hip Hop music, either you like it or you don't that's cool. All I'm trying to say is that if you want to make fun of Hip Hop music there are a lot of joke acts out there, K Fed isn't one of them. The initial DLs of his first single were amazing. His album among true fans of the genre is one of the most anticipated of the summer. Papa Zoa was playing at my local club every weekend and I can testify that the dance floor was full every time it came on. It's unfair that people act like he is some kind of a poser. He's talking about his life, which is what good rap music is about. He isn't trying to be someone he isn't, he is just talking about what goes on in his scene. What's more real than that? Not to mention the beats have been sick. What's wrong with sampling Thomas Dolby? People have sampled everyone, the beat for his latest song is awesome.

I love rap music.  All of it.  That's why I hate Kevin Federline.  He reminds me of those guys from the T-Mobile commerial (I think)  at the first of the commercial when show 'poser mobile' and those Kevin Federline wannabes are all......well, maybe you've seen it.  Anyway.  To call this garbage 'hip-hop' or even better 'rap' is laughable.  How could you compare this to Boogie Down Productions??????  He's closer to Gangsta Fag.  Big deal, he ravaged some trailer trash whore who had a singing career.  I've ravaged trailer trash whores in my day, and can wear a backwards hat and smoke blunts.  DOes that make me a rap star?

Kevin is the worst thing, ever.  Another rich white guy gets a producer and has rap written for him.ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzThere is no depth to his music, it's so shallow it's a fucking mountain.  It goes UP instead of DOWN.  I am an old skool fan of Hip Hop back to the days of Digital Underground, Slick Rick and the like.  I'm no expert but I do know something about the genre and Kevin is appauling.And as Sheepy said, your claim that "It can't be bad, people dance to it" is terrible.  It's a sweaty room full of coc'd up people looking to get laid.  They'll dance to anything.  Also, the drunker you get people, the better they will like what you're playing them.  I've been playing clubs for a decade, trust me.  You get those people nicely toasted and they'll move to a man farting into a mic in time with a Casio beat.

Linkin Park is a cheesy rapcore band. Real hardcore bands are bands

i like hip hop and rap.  i even have a softspot for indie white rappers: aesop rock, el-p, mike skinner of the streets.  hell, i guess i even like eminem, but what ive heard from kfed so far is boring, typical, and feels so inauthentic.  there's nothing in his songs i havent heard before somewhere else, and don't really see any creativity in his rhymes or beats. /end my.02

You all are missing the point, he has'nt even released the real stuff yet.  The first one was just a curveball and I'm assuming this one is either a slider or a change-up.  I think we have at least a few more pitches to go before we get to the real thing.  This guy ain't worried about no pitch count, Access Hollywood or Gumbel brothers.

Well I don't but...anyway this poster can't be serious... K-Fed didn't gank the beat from Tomas Dolby, he swiped it from Mobb Deep who swiped it from Tomas Dolby. In the Mobb Deep song Prodigy says something along the lines of "trying to bang Britney / so I made Jive sign me" (the label) Im not sure if that is why K-Fed choose this beat? It is ( or should I say was when it came out a year and a half ago) a hot beat. He is just horrific. I have been a fan of Hip Hop since I was a little kid in the mid 80's and like all differnt styles. He is garbage. Im not just saying because he is K-Fed. I would give him a fair shot. I agree there is a double standard for rappers white and black. If a white guy acted like Snoop Dog you would say he is the corniest MFer on earth but becasue he is black (and got a good voice and smooth style) hes cool. That aside based just on his skills and skills alone he is garbage.
