I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes and it became way too predictable for me. A patient has a mysterious ailment, and only House can diagnose it. Lo and behold, it's the wrong diagnosis. Then he correctly identifies it as an even rarer disease and saves the day.
GREAT FUCKING SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
And damn it, when will House bang his co-worker. She clearly still has
the hots for him. But then again, he likes to be miserable.

One of the very few shows I watch on a weekly basis. Hugh Laurie has
done an awesome job coming out of obscurity and becoming one of the
best characters on TV this side of Jack Bauer. Plus I have a crush on
the chick doctor.

I watch the show sometimes, but I hate the subplots involving House's exwife (or wife - not sure). I couldn't care less about those two. Most boring couple in the history of romance.

I watch the show, and enjoy it. It's one of the few shows that my wife and I both like. I often felt like I was being gypped though, because the show seemed to follow a pretty standard blueprint, and were always solved by House using some bit of information that we couldn't have possibly known (the apparently drug free ballplayer's bones were affected by cadmium in the soil of the pot he was smoking). I will say that the second season has done a better job of getting away from the established formula, and the episodes (at least the "figure out the disease" parts) have been much better written. Any plot device that carries from one episode to the next is generally shit -- I don't give a crap whether House and Stacy will get back together, whether Cameron & House will hit it off, whether Foreman will be able to take over as House's boss, whether the the malevolent hospital board member will be able to take House down. It just isn't interesting, and if you've watched the show, you realize that none of these subplots ever really go anywhere.

They should have a spin off show of all the people House saves. Now they're buried in medical bills their HMO's won't pay because House charges WAAAY too much money to save them.

They eventually take their own lives.

I liked Hugh Laurie when he was on Black Adder. I'm glad to see him on a
successful series.

I never had any urge to watch this show. This past week my gf wanted to watch it. She liked the girl with the allergies so we did. I really like this show. I think we'll continue watching it. House is such a dick.

I love Hugh Laurie, and he does a great job as House- my spouse watches every week but I usally have to check out after the first emergency trach/baby with cancer/skin-eating disease. It is a little predictable, but it's a hospital mystery show.

I liked it when House dissed that married chick because she didn't immediately dump her husband after seeing the House Penis. I also liked when he diagnosed the little mouse in that episode.

Regards, Badinia

This weeks medical obscurity is called Erdheim-Chester Disease, and like usual came to House at 9:55PM after an unrelated conversation about a Poker player keeping his Aces hidden. (rolling eyes)

Also, unlike the warm happy ending the show put forth, the disease is deadly and our little blond haired blue eyed little raggamuffin is a dead duck. Why did they lie about that?

In case anyone is interested, here's the scoop on Erdheim-Chester Disease (path was spelled wrong:
------------------
E-C disease, according to this review article, is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis first described in 1930 characterized by infiltrate of lipid-laden macrophages, multinucleated giant cells, inflammatory infiltrate of lymphocytes and histiocytes in the bone marrow with generalized sclerosis of long bones. About 80 cases have been reported in the literature. Histopathology and distribution are similar to Langerhans cell histiocytosis but ECD presents in middle age, cells are S100 negative and lack Birbeck granules, bony lesions are symmetric and sclerotic involving long bones in the region of the metadiaphyses, the symptoms include bone pain, fever, weight loss, exophthalmos, dyspnea, neurologic findings. Plain x-rays of involved bones show osteosclerosis with sparing of the epiphyses. Non-bone involvement includes hypothalamus/pituitary with diabetes insipidus, renal and retroperitoneal infiltration, eyelid and cutaneous xanthomas, intra and extra axial cerebral infiltration, pericardial and pulmonary fibrosis. Patients frequently have cerebellar symptoms including gait ataxia and MRI of the brain shows intra-axial lesions in cerebellum and pons mimicking demyelinating process and often confused with multiple sclerosis. The most common pulmonary symptom is progressive dyspnea with pleural thickening and diffuse interstitial prominence. Prognosis is related to extent of visceral involvement, most patients die within two to three years of diagnosis due to CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, renal insufficiency. No treatment is highly effective. (Joint Program In Nuclear Medicine, Erdheim-Chester disease, Passalaqua S and Janicek MJ, 10/03/00).
