<p>This is insane, though typical of government...</p><p>A St. John's man has found that a bargain at a municipal auction proved to be no bargain at all.<br /><br />"I thought I had a deal," said Paul Beaumont, who eventually found out that the 16-year-old Honda Accord he had purchased at a City of St. John's auction had actually been reported stolen.</p><p>Beaumont did not learn that until after he had repaired the car and paid for its insurance.</p><p>When he went to register the car with the Newfoundland and Labrador government's motor vehicles division, Beaumont was asked to stand aside – and then was approached by police officers.<br /><br />When the car was reported stolen, he said, no one thought to look at the city lot. <br /></p><p><a href="http://www.cbc.ca/nl/story/nf-hot-wheels-20060407.html">http://www.cbc.ca/nl/story/nf-hot-wheels-20060407.html</a></p>
