There are extenuating circumstances in virtually any murder.&nbsp; Not everyone is going to get the death penalty.&nbsp; I don't see any harm in adding an additional penalty for killing someone with racism as a motive.<br />

There was a situation in Wisconsin where a few black guys watched Mississippi Burning and then went out right afterwards and nearly beat a white guy to death. To get them more time, Wisconsin charged them with a hate crime, and the Supreme Court gave the okay to it.

Hate crimes are there for a reason. The KKK has murdered thousands of black people solely because of their race. Not for any other reason with little or no provocation. People like Al Sharpton remember that because it is part of their personal history and yeah they march. Would you rather they bombed court buildings like the Aryan Nations did in OKLAHOMA?

<p>I don't think what happened was really a hate crime.&nbsp; But neither was the fat nick thing.&nbsp; I think white people get silently outraged because of the blantent hipocrisy that we are forced to stomach when it comes to racial issues.&nbsp; How all of white america has to be afraid to speak their mind, or even make mistakes, for fear of being called a racist.&nbsp; How horrible was it, that that radio guy was fired for mistakingly saying it &quot;will be a big coon&quot;, rather than saying big coup.&nbsp; </p><p>Obviously these kids made a mistake, but as white people, how are we supposed to feel bad for them, when we know if the situation was reversed, there would be riots.&nbsp; It's this imbalance that creates the racial tensions.</p>

I think the difference is the level of organization . People just having a bad day don't have uniforms ,go to rallies, and target such places as churches,synagogues and public buildings to vent their rage against people they hate because they are different from them.
