I would advise them not to commit such a strategic error,"

"I would advise them to first get out of their quagmire in Iraq before getting into an even bigger one," General Safavi said with a grin.

"We have American forces in the region under total surveillance. If we did act againt them, would we win, or would it be another quagmire? With the potential of nuclear power backing up their words, do we just let them get away with it? What do you think?

first of all, isnt Quarmire on Family Guy? what does he have to do with all this?
Second, I think we are screwed either way. Left unchecked, IRAN will grow to be more cocky and arrogant. Thumbing its nose in the air to us. If we go there to keep them in line with guns ablazing we look even more like the war monger. unless we get support from other countries, which will never happen, we have our backs to the wall.
Iran will not back down or be broken like the soviet union. they have money and oil. they can/will/have hold out on oil to this country in a means to break us. This is why we need to supply our own oil.

I think the hot language shows how isolated they feel internationally, and how weak they are with their own people at home. If they were in a stronger position, they wouldn't need to talk so tough.

Its no secret there's alot of unrest in Iran, and alot of sentiment for change in that country. The peope are largely secular, being governed by a theocracy. I think were trying to play wait and see with them, hoping the situation corrects itself.

here's the problem

we're being too nice in our war efforts, we should just lay the entire region to waste, innocent bystanders and all, fuck em then let the united nations control the oil that way the rest of the world doesnt get pissed and then any more upstart cocky countries will know what will happen if they fuck with us.

In a military conflict, we would roll over Iran.

No country in the world except China would be able to compete with our military. I have a feeling we are no where near the military powerhouse we used to be. I doubt we would be able to take over Canada if we wanted to. The only thing we have thats of any real consequence is our nuclear arsenal and in todays climate, we wouldnt even respond with nukes even if New York was nuked.

In the invasion of Iraq, we rolled over them. Iran would be no tougher.

If we were to invade Iran, disable all the nuclear sites and then leave, we wouldnt have a problem. That will never happen though, because our country always feels obligated to stay and repair the damage we inflict on a country.

Instead, I believe the international community will apply diplomatic pressure on the Iran leadership. When this fails, expect a major boycott of goods, supplies, etc..to this now rogue state. This too will fail. When they are sufficiently weakened, expect a US proxy Middle Eastern country, possibly Jordan or Syria, to engage Iran militarily. Syria is a whore of a country and will do anything for the right price. Iran will be forced to either retaliate or acquiese to the international community. If they decide to fight, we will get drawn in, and get ready for $8 a gallon gas, and a possible return to our 18 year olds getting drafted. This Iran group cannot and will not negotiate. They are thugs. Keep in mind that the "President" of Iran is actually one of the militant hostage takers of the 1979 US Embassy takeover situation during the Carter years. God damnit, where's Jack Bauer when you really need him the most.

I think George Bush is an ASSHOLE for even thinking about fighting a another war. If you guys think gas is bad now, just wait until this war happens when its $5.00 Gal. Of course we could just use a few nukes wipe them out, and gas will be back down to $0.05 Gal
